Access Eye Centers has been the "Best in Sight" for over 30 years in the Fredericksburg area. Access Eye lives up to it's name by being accessible to our patients with five convienant locations, Saturday and evening hours. We are a medical based Ophthalmology/Optometry practice offering the latest technology
In 2001, Dr. Robert Samit had a vision, which was a pretty appropriate phenomenon, considering that he's an optometrist. He saw in the future a network of eye doctors, united under the banner of a single company that provides quality vision care—plus a huge selection of value-priced and designer eyewear frames—to patients throughout Washington DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
Together with company president Sue Healey Downes, they now boast a whopping 51 locations throughout the region, each with a licensed Doctor of Optometry on hand. They equip this army of eye examiners with the latest technology. When a doctor determines that a corrective lens is called for, he or she prescribes them before MyEyeDr.'s team of eyecare consultants helps patients choose from a huge array of frames from such brands as Chanel, Oakley, and Ray Ban RX.

Dr. Nisha Patel not only takes care of her patients' eyes with laser vision correction, eye-disease screenings, and cataract surgery, but she also takes time to help with the eye-care needs of the underserved. The board-certified ophthalmologist currently volunteers in the Fairfax Hospital and Washington Hospital Center's resident eye clinic, and while she was an ophthalmology resident, she initiated a residents' elective program that led her on a surgical and medical ophthalmology mission to Liberia. The compassionate doctor also participated in another mission trip to Guayaquil, Ecuador, and she offers Spanish translation services and sign language for her hearing-impaired patients at NoVA Eye MD.
To further care for people, Dr. Patel alleviates dry eye caused by medications, dehydration, or Lifetime-movie marathons, and she helps people feel younger by removing excess tissue from eyelids. Additionally, Dr. Patel performs routine eye exams and cosmetic treatments such as Botox and Latisse.
The optometrists at Visual Health Doctors of Optometry tap into stored expertise during comprehensive exams assisted by a high-tech computer and a wisecracking flashlight at Visual Health's three Virginia locations. After emerging from exams clutching accurate eye prescriptions, customers peruse the showroom with the help of multilingual staff members, who show off designer frames from brands such as Coach, Ted Baker, and Calvin Klein. After selecting frames, technicians in the onsite lab craft standard, Crizal, or Varilux premium lenses, a Visual Health Doctors of Optometry speciality, or place orders for contacts.
Dr. Edward Perraut hasn't just performed more than 50,000 LASIK surgeries, he's also undergone the laser-based procedure. This boosts the credibility of the Johns Hopkins fellow and his fellow doctors, who speak from experience when advising clients on the LASIK procedures. After leading a consult to confirm candidacy, the doctors schedule surgery, which begins with a small incision to open a flap over the corneal surface. Using a small-spot laser beam, WaveLight's Allegretto Wave Eye-Q laser helps reforms the curvature of the cornea according to calibrations customized for each patient. The flap is then closed and begins resealing immediately, thanks to the eye's ability to heal quickly. The surgeons furnish patients with home-care instructions, as well as recommendations for follow-up appointments. A small percentage may need touch-up procedures, which are included if the patient is a viable candidate. An FAQ page anticipates common questions, such as, "will LASIK affect my x-ray vision?"
At New Era Eyecare Optometrists, Dr. Edwin Adair leads a staff that includes an optician, an eyewear consultant, and a contact-lens specialist in improving patients’ vision. Dr. Adair uses advanced equipment during annual check-ups—including the optomap retinal exam, which gives a clearer picture of the retina and tells him how effectively it’s absorbing light or casting shadow puppets. After he has checked fields of vision and established visual acuity, he turns patients loose into the bright, wood-accented boutique to shop among designer frames from Gucci, Prada, Oliver Peoples, Nike, and Tom Ford.
Convenience reigns supreme at Eye & Vision Care, thanks to Dr. Kapoor and her onsite optical lab. The doc performs comprehensive eye exams on both children and adults, during which she tests for a full spectrum of optical defects, from ocular diseases to blurred vision. For patients in need of lenses, Eye & Vision Care’s onsite lab can have a wide variety of lenses—including shatter-proof polycarbonate, transitional, and anti-glare varieties—cut and delivered within an hour of ordering, allowing clients to peruse the shop’s selection of more than 1,000 designer frames while they wait. Patients who wish to go glasses-free can opt for contact lenses and consult with Dr. Kapoor about LASIK eye surgery or the pros and cons of driving with a periscope.
