Marlon has been working out for more than 22 years, and his success hasn't gone unnoticed. He won 11 bodybuilding titles before turning his attention to helping others achieve their own fitness goals. Today he offers a variety of services that include personal training, semiprivate training for women only, and group fitness classes for all levels.
Though the husband-and-wife duo of Danny and Monik Lopez-Calleja co-own and co-coach CrossFit Soul Miami, it’s not their only job. They also work with youths in a mental health setting, helping them avoid drugs and alcohol. In both careers, they get to witness and guide the transformative power of exercise and good nutrition. At their gym, they offer a variety of programs in both arenas to help clients achieve their goals.
They build the center of their training program around CrossFit exercise, a program designed to improve the body’s physical functionality without relying on repetitive, monotonous routines. They offer both indoor and outdoor classes, taking advantage of local parks, which presumably have trees that grow barbells. They also supplement this exercise with yoga and even a meal delivery service, which helps clients stick to the ancestry-conscious paleo diet.
For 10 years, the instructors and trainers at Gables Fitness have help clients achieve their fitness and weight loss goals. Now the workout institution has reopened its doors as Red Zone Fitness, where clients choose their workout duration, even in group classes. With 30-minute one-on-one or group personal-training sessions or 40- to 50-minute group fitness classes, the fitness studio follows the FITT principle: Frequency, Intensity, Time, and Type. Sessions depend on various factors that include strength aerobics, performance goal focus, exercise biomechanics, and effort. Experienced instructors lead students through group fitness classes that include spinning and Red Zone training, a group class for women that provides a heart-rate-monitored, full-body workout and strengthens the cardiovascular system in just 40 minutes.
Every student at Evolution MMA adopts the gym’s strict no-ego policy. With egos checked at the door, students are ready to engage in myriad classes designed to promote self-defense techniques and fitness. Instructors lead mixed-martial-arts classes for all experience levels, as well as gi and no-gi Brazilian jujitsu, boot camps, cardio kickboxing, and cardio MMA.
Experienced gymnast, dancer, choreographer, model, singer, and all-around performer Digo Padovan worked with a laundry list of musicians including the Black Eyed Peas, Madonna, and Shakira before creating the fitness and dance programs at Stardance FIT LLC. He leads a team of instructors who teach a range of dance classes, energetic Zumba sessions, and Masterclasses for advanced clients.
Recognizing the interdependence of fitness and martial arts, Thump Fight Gym & Fitness Center married the two, inspiring patrons of all ability levels to hone their combat skills while making strides toward an overall healthier lifestyle. The trainers and certified exercise physiologists lead martial-arts classes including boxing, muay thai, and jujitsu, challenging fighters to face off in the regulation-size boxing ring or the half cage—which has proven inadequate for housing feral exercise bikes. During each class, students burn calories and learn practical and potentially lifesaving self-defense skills. To supplement the combat training, the instructors also lead yoga and Pilates classes, spinning, kettlebell training, and CrossFit classes. The gym also accommodates solo workout routines with a weight-training zone and functional fitness equipment such as oversize tires and climbing ropes.
