Ryan Garner always felt a connection with horses, but he felt an equally strong disconnect with many of the equestrian world’s traditional, intimidation-filled training methods. Instead of ignoring his concerns, the lifelong horse enthusiast began studying natural horsemanship, a method that encourages equine obedience through gentle rider-horse communication. Now, at RG Horsemanship, Garner shares his mission of trust, leadership, and communication during horseback-riding lessons. Through patient instruction, he helps students connect with their equine counterparts via body language and facial expressions.
Pawpurri Pet Salon’s easygoing groomers specialize in caring for mature or problem pets. With careful attention, the staff makes these dogs and others feel comfortable during a shampoo, a coat clip, or a nail trim. The groomers also polish pups' appearances with de-shedding treatments, flea or tick baths, and tooth brushing, occasionally installing grills.
Marcia and Jim Wentzell have been serving the Cobb County animal community for more than 15 years, working with rescue groups, homeless dogs, and family pets. Jim graduated as a certified obedience trainer in 1998, and then went on to serve as the president of the Georgia Network of Professional Petsitters until 2002. In 2005, he and Marcia opened A Passion for Pets Daycare, where they offer grooming, training, daycare, and cage-free sleepovers for dogs.
During daycare, dogs romp, run, and work out four-part howling harmonies on a full acre of open-play space. Four-legged guests that are spending the night also roam freely thanks to cage-free sleepovers with overnight human companionship. At the full-service salon, staffers primp dogs with full bath and spa treatments that include services such as gum massages and even blueberry facials. The on-site Doggy-Liscious Bake Shop provides yummy pet treats such as cupcakes or banana biscotti, and the store also sells natural and holistic pet foods. A Passion for Pets also specializes in agility training and in-home petsitting.
Set on 5 lush acres of land, AA Pet Kennel & Resort, Inc. has cared for critters since 1958, employing a staff of loving pet aficionados to oversee pets for boarding. During boarding, staffers let pets romp around outside in a fenced-in area. For an additional charge, they also take them for nature walks through the grounds’ expansive trails. Overnight boarding treats pets to premium food and plenty of love as soft music plays in the building.
Wagging Tails' experienced canine caretakers shower pooches with personalized attention and supervised playtime in a 4,500-square-foot paw paradise. The first visit begins with a tour and introduction to familiarize furry friends with the sights, sounds, and lingering Lassie smells of their new surroundings. Afterward, animals with up-to-date vaccinations and docile dispositions can play for up to 12 hours a day under the watch of attentive puppy sitters and observant webcams. Hounds can make friends, play, and socialize in this safe, loving environment, and take periodic naps if requested by their parent or guardian. During each visit, chaperones cosset each collared guest with custom quality time, which can include belly rubs, ear scratches, and moral support during never-ending games of Capture the Tail.
