As mothers, entrepreneurs, and self-proclaimed fashionistas, co-owners Shantell and Taffi understand the importance of taking time out to care for one's nails, hands, and feet. With that understanding they opened SistaSista Nail Spa, where women of all trades can maintain the health and appearance of their extremities by having damaged acrylics repaired or getting help for conditions such as dehydrated skin, corns, and calluses, which can negatively affect one’s ability to create shadow puppets. During natural manicures and pedicures, the duo details cuticles, trims nails, and massages hands and feet before beautifying nails with a high-shine buff, a Gelish polish, or patterned Minx nails. Additionally, they can educate clients on how to improve the condition of their digits in between treatments.
Sol has restless feet. For the past 20 years, Sol has culled the latest trends from around to world—from Tel-Aviv to Italy to London—keeping active Dallas urbanites at the forefront of incessantly rotating hair fashions. His team of deft stylists undergoes rigorous and ongoing training to ensure that not only their scissors but their savvy stays ultra-sharp. In addition to slathering strands with INOA hair color by L'Oreal, Sol's team sculpts manes with products by Kérastase. They can also lengthen coiffures with durable human-hair extensions or smooth out tendrils with Brazilian and Japanese straightening treatments.
A fountain’s quiet bubbling welcomes patrons into the lounge of Reflexions Spa, which specializes in massage, facials, nail services, and body wraps. Further in, private treatment rooms in earthen hues host nine massage options that include aromatherapy and prenatal techniques. For those with more anterior concerns, a range of facial options addresses issues such as sun damage, aging, oil, acne, and too many pie-eating tournaments. Manicures and pedicures shape and buff nails and offer the options of paraffin-wax treatments and long-lasting OPI gel lacquer or CND Shellac polish. Waxing specialists are also on hand to evict unwanted hair from upper arms, legs, and faces.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
When I was a receptionist at Toni&Guy, I watched people come and go all day. When they checked out they always talked about how great they felt and how wonderful their service was. I wanted to be that person who made people feel that way about themselves.
What’s your favorite part about your job?
Making people feel beautiful no matter what. It's crazy to say, but what I do has changed people's lives.
What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a client?
I've always had positive reactions from all of my clients. One in particularly was when a client had been referred to me by another one of my regulars. She was new in the states from Europe. She desperately needed a hairstylist, [and] she had been to many places already. Not only was she more than satisfied, but she started recommending clients to me from all over the world: Australia and South Africa to be exact. These clients still travel to the states for me to cut their hair.
