Canvas n Cocktails hosts painting nights at several different venues for kids, adults, and all-ages events. On Thursdays, aspiring artists can enjoy margaritas and martinis at Luna De Noche Tex-Mex Grill and Saturday afternoon classes head to The Spaghetti Warehouse's patio for sangria and wine specials. There are other locations too, and even the art that students create varies: recent themes include a colorful owl and dreamcatchers. Canvas n Cocktails provides all the supplies, including paint, brushes, easels, aprons, and the canvas that you'll take home and model your home's entire interior design upon.
Park Tavern strives to fill its menu with foods you've probably never tried. Such tasty new experiences may come in the form of the tavern's street-vendor-style carnitas tacos with citrus slaw, its bulgogi cheesesteak sandwich, or its animal tots: a Texas-sized spin on classic Canadian poutine. It features a platter of tots, or fries, buried beneath pulled pork, cheese curds, grainy mustard, a fried egg, and heavy stout gravy. A reviewer at CraveDFW called the dish "nothing short of terrific."
Guests enjoy the creative food in an urban lodge setting, which has a rustic, yet upscale appearance, much like the queen of England after she completes a mud run. In the warmer months, they can cool off with a craft beer or cocktail out on the patio.
Though each work at the Museum of Biblical Art explores themes or depicts scenes from the Bible, the museum’s mission is to provide invaluable insight into centuries’ worth of art history as guests of all backgrounds and denominations learn about art’s portrayal of Western culture. More than 11 galleries and permanent exhibits fill the museum’s 30,000 square feet of space, beckoning visitors to interpret installations ranging from 14th century sculptures to contemporary paintings. In addition to Jewish ceremonial art and watercolors of archaeological holy sites, the MBA also festoons its walls with works by African-American and Hispanic artists that analyze the same biblical themes, albeit from a different cultural perspective.
One of the museum’s permanent fixtures is a life-size bronze casting of Michelangelo’s Pietà, which was authorized by the Vatican and created by a Florentine foundry that practices the same wax-casting technique formerly used by Renaissance artists. Additionally, lithographs by Marc Chagall depict his interpretations of themes in the Old Testament, and line the colonnade leading from the sculpture atrium to the gallery of contemporary art by supercomputers that needed to express themselves.
Modeled on England's famed watering holes, Baker St. Pub & Grill greets visitors with a softly lit atmosphere, age-darkened wood, and ceilings adorned with anglophilic knickknacks. Classic Britannic drinks such as Guinness and Strongbow Cider flow from the bar's taps, joined by New Belgium, Fat Tire, and other American craft brews. Guests can pair their brew with something from the pub menu, featuring Welsh rarebit sandwiches, bangers and mash, and shepherd's pie. Fish and chips come in classic form, or potato crusted. Those looking to sink their teeth into homegrown specialties can order a juicy sirloin burger or spicy chicken wings.
The staff at Dive West has two favorite scuba diving locations: their indoor heated pool and Cozumel, Mexico, where the water temperature almost always hovers between 70 and 80 degrees. Dive West's training programs encourage divers of all experience levels to graduate from the first location to the second. In addition to open water diving certification courses, the company offers digital underwater photography, stress and rescue, and other specialty classes. Students can customize their experience in just about any way, with group or private classes held on weekends or weekdays.
Once you've been certified, Dive West's travel department can send you to wondrous dive spots. Vacations to the Bahamas, the Cayman Islands, and Belize are all on the calendar, in addition to monthly trips to Cozumel.
