When Younes Ounzar moved from New York to Dallas, he brought coloring expertise that earned him—and only five other salons across the nation—a spot on Colin Cowie Weddings the Hair Hit List. Following the lead of Ounzar, stylists at Capelli Salon Dallas enhance manes with an array of services and their own line of nourishing products. Coifs emerge with vibrant new tones after ammonia-free coloring treatments, or sport smooth, sleek tresses after Japanese thermal treatments. Real human-hair extensions add dramatic length or empathy for a sister who lives in a locked tower. Full-length mirrors and red cube-shaped chairs imbue the salon with a contemporary, European vibe that is elevated with modernistic white chandeliers.
Stylists at Aria Salon Dallas don’t force all their clients to wear the same hairstyle, and it only follows that they shouldn’t make all their clients adhere to the same schedule. All day, the hardworking hairstylists use their keen aesthetic eyes to forge one-of-a-kind haircuts and hair-texturizing and coloring services until 7 p.m. And if a client can’t make it before the salon closes up shop? The accommodating staff can schedule later appointments by request. That way, clients can receive everything from a Brazilian blowout to a simple shampoo and style on their own timetable.
Matrix, Paul Mitchell, and American Crew are just some of the high-end products used by Belinda Stafford in the comfort of her cozy hair studio. Drawing on more than 15 years of experience, Belinda transforms strands with face-flattering layers and adds depth with bold color highlights. The multicultural salon also offers ethnic hair services such as micro braids and specialty relaxation treatments.
Using Botanical Science Technologies products such as honey-almond scrubs and papaya and pumpkin masques, licensed aesthetician Suzanne Shelton beautifies skin with services customized to each client’s needs. She also lends her skincare expertise through helpful tips posted on her Facebook page and skywritten with an airplane in the clear blue sky.
The Special Touch Salon & Spa caresses blemished bodies with an all-natural and organic body wrap that returns wearisome bodies to their natural striking form. After cowardly clothes make a run for cover, a healing mud composed of Moroccan minerals, volcanic ash, and sea algae is applied to the skin before limbs and trunks are wrapped in a lightweight plastic. Up-and-coming wrappers will then rest for 45 minutes under a kindhearted heated blanket, which activates the magical mud and detoxification process. The Special Touch Salon & Spa's body wrap is designed to ease aches and pains, trim fat and reduce cellulite, and detoxify the joints via skin pores and triceps’ trap doors. The entire process takes about an hour and leaves guests with a newfound balance, rejuvenation, and purified skin.
Q&A with Marshell Dickens, Owner of Hair by Marshell
What inspired you to start this business?
I am passionate about building long-term relationships with my clients by showcasing my hair styling skills, great haircutting abilities, and my knowledge of hair care . . . but mostly I like being independent!
What does your salon look like?
I rent a very cozy suite at Salon By JC with a nice view outside, but it still has a private atmosphere. The . . . decor is slick and uncluttered, yet I have everything I need at my fingertips to do my job. The salon as a whole is very spacious, decorated with beautiful art and filled with comfortable [seating] in the hallways. There is open parking, lots of cool restaurants, bars, and a local grocery store for your convenience!
