Owner Michael Roloff pairs his decades of construction experience with business partner Nathalie Pillsbury’s engineering and design prowess to execute stylish building projects with a careful attention to aesthetic detail. Building teams regularly synchronize and coordinate scheduling with architects and suppliers and foster long-term relationships with trusted subcontractors to complete such projects as tiled bathrooms and cherry-wood kitchen cabinets. Past masterpieces from Roloff’s handiwork include architecturally consistent garage and porch expansions and an Old World–style wine cellar with a hidden door that opens when you say “oenophilia” correctly five times fast. In addition to renovating existing spaces and repairing leaky sinks, drafty windows, and sticking doors, the talented crew at Roloff Construction wills into existence tasteful modern additions to sunrooms.
We’re a company of career carpenters, woodworkers and building science geeks that has built the best of Portland since 1994. As stewards of this built environment, we honor the embodied energy and narrative contained within every building through remodels, new homes, and handyman and home performance services.
In 2009, current owner and native Oregonian Chris Peterson revived his family’s defunct, nearly 20-year-old roofing business with the decision to make eco-friendly practices the foundation of C.D. Northwest’s roof-strengthening services. Chris threw all the know-how he had gained from growing up with the company and the knowledge he accrued earning a degree in business administration into reopening C.D. Northwest’s doors. Now, Chris and his small crew of dedicated workers tend to roofs on commercial buildings and residential homes, from bungalows and ranches to three-story Victorians made of glass. That eco-friendly mission has held fast, forming the basis for even the most basic services, such as scouring roofs with a nontoxic cleaning chemical. To keep Mother Nature and karma on its side, the team at C.D. Northwest continually contributes to a variety of charities including Friends of Trees and the SMART program, which aims to teach kids how to read.
A third-generation handyman, Craftworks Home Repair & Improvement’s owner Jason Morey employs steady hands and a steely vision as he paints, repairs, and remodels customers’ homes. Specializing in both indoor and outdoor work, he touches up and transforms areas as big as the backyard deck, as nuanced as the electrical system, and as high-tech as the underground escape pod. Kitchens and bathrooms can be renovated with new fixtures or rebuilt walls, while custom shelving units, fences, and outdoor play structures can be installed to result in safe, upgraded households. Jason also focuses on smaller-picture tasks such as painting, glass repair, and garden work.
