The color chuckers at Paint Slingers aid visitors of all experience levels in the creation of personalized paintings. At each girls' night out party or open painting party, students choose prepared canvases to complete under the guidance of an art teacher, who will impart the finer points of impressionism by pretending to be a celebrity. Over the course of 2.5 hours, the sketched outline is filled to the metaphorical brim with incorporeal expression and very real paint.

Lucille Allen used to work with executives at tech companies. One day, though, she started training in the Bishnu Gosh lineage of yoga, and now she leads patrons through poses in warm rooms at Sterling Hot Yoga Works. Those rooms are heated to 104 degrees with 40% humidity, which helps muscles gain flexibility and move easily into different stances in sessions that last either 60 or 90 minutes. Drawing upon years of experience, Allen and her staff put those yoga poses to work to improve health and mental wellbeing alike. She'll even work with aspiring yoga instructors, providing the skills to lead classes on their own.

The family behind Phoenix Fitness furnished their facility with free weights and cardio equipment. In addition to teaching group classes, personal trainers lead one-on-one sessions complete with nutritional advice. Kids' classes help youngsters stay in shape, have fun, and train for their favorite sports. The gym's tanning booths tint muscles a toasty shade of gold, and onsite childcare gives little ones a chance to play or show off their super-human strength.

Q&A with Sean, Owner and Director

What makes your business stand out?
We are a progressions-based program to help promote safety for our athletes. Our staff attends continuing education regularly to make sure we are staying up-to-date with the latest techniques and coaching trends.

What inspired you to start or run this business?
A passion for cheerleading and a desire to bring a reputable program to the Gulf Coast area. We wanted a family-friendly gym where athletes can be trained safely and correctly.

What is the best reaction you’ve ever gotten from a customer?
We regularly see athletes in the gym who have since gone off to college and are now cheering on scholarship throughout the Southeast. They are part of the CF1 Family and are always welcome.

What’s your favorite part about your job?
Being the positive experience in a child's life each week.
