Founded in 1977, Huntington Learning Center employs a battalion of highly trained tutors who help students succeed both at school and in standardized testing. The academic evaluation, consisting of exams performed in a simulated classroom environment, yields a comprehensive collection of data that the center director uses to design a custom learning program and a personalized, in-class obstacle course. For SAT/ACT students, the evaluation includes an actual full-length SAT or ACT exam.
Main Line Center for Bartending provides a hands-on learning environment to become a Pennsylvania-state-licensed bartender in just one, two, or five weeks. Each class spends at least 80% of the time behind the bar, with the remaining time filled with lectures, role-playing, or brainstorming how to mix undiscovered beauties, such as the Pan-Galactic Gargle Blaster. In class, students tend to a 35-foot bar completely stocked with all the necessary equipment. By the end of each session, wet-eared barkeeps will grasp the mixing of more than 250 drinks, ins and outs of general bar duties, and how to enlighten patrons with astute customer service and a convincingly consoling wipe-down of the guest-tender gap.
Jazzercise is 60 minutes of cardio, strength training, and stretching that incorporates moves from hip-hop, yoga, Pilates, jazz dance, kickboxing, and resistance training with handheld weights. Dancing with the Stars multiple-champion Cheryl Burke is a big fan of Jazzercise's improvisational workouts, though luckily you won't need her dance moves to get the most out of your class. If you're prone to first-class jitters, though, you can review the basic moves online before you go. Expect to burn up to 500 calories with each go-round.

Many people think of acting as a mystical gift, but Bernard Glincosky knows better. Like any skill, acting requires practice, and that’s where The Philadelphia Acting Studio comes in. At the studio, aspiring thespians bulk up their skills through a variety of classes taught by seasoned actors, producers, and directors. Himself a Hollywood veteran, Glincosky employs a stable of experienced instructors including acting teachers who have worked with the likes of Tom Cruise, Denzel Washington, Ron Pearlman, and Martin Scorcese. Classes are offered throughout the week, covering scene work, audition tactics, and how to cry on command when the maitre d' can’t find an empty table.
The crew of FAA-certified pilots at Flying Lessons Philadelphia are eager to welcome students into the ranks as a recreational or commercial aviator. The school's flight curriculum equips these aspiring aces with all the necessary tools and skills outlined by the Federal Aviation Administration, administered through hands-on experience in the cockpit, ground school, and a mandatory screening of Wings. Those still undecided about committing to the full process can try out a 30-minute Discovery Flight, during which, students will get the chance to take control of the aircraft.
