There's 12th-century German stencil work above the bar at Embers of the Phoenix, and the old-fashioned elegance doesn't stop there. It extends to the eatery's building itself, dubbed the Bix Biederbecke building, which was built in 1912. The chefs aren't quite as old school as their environs, though. They whip up classic dishes, such as filet mignon topped with blue-cheese crumbles and the house specialty, made-from-scratch cheesecake, along with more modern ones, such as baked fish tacos. The bartenders' pours cover a similar range, from classic red wine to Carrot Cake and Monster Cookie martinis, the 2013 and 2014 winners of HAV Life Foundation's Martini Shake Off! dessert category.

Fiery red paint splashes the walls of Casa Tequila Authentic Mexican Grill, creating the illusion of heat. Sizzling plates of fajitas emerge from the kitchen, fanning the flames with soft tortillas and hot strips of chicken. Nearby, grilled T-bones and rib eyes amplify the warmth with spicy jalape?os and ranchero sauce. Like most of the menu?s selections, these dishes are made from scratch using super-fresh ingredients. To lower the temperature, barkeeps craft margaritas that are cooler than an iceberg wearing an Elvis wig. Available in a variety of flavors and sizes, these drinks showcase a lineup of more than 50 tequilas. Diners can also enjoy their meals at outdoor tables, amid refreshing breezes and the shade of patio umbrellas.

Nestled within the confines of a historic building, Century Grille exudes grandeur with its menu, or the crab-stuffed portobello, which conceals on-the-lam flaked crab and its red-pepper sidekick inside a provolone-topped mushroom cap ($16). Meat seekers can unleash freshly sharpened steak knives or scimitars on the Century’s selection of steaks, including the 8-ounce sirloin ($11) or the 6-ounce filet ($14), while nascent nibblers can choose from a bevy of kid-centric classics, including macaroni 'n' cheese and hamburgers. Soak in the charm of the Century’s mahogany woodwork, refinished marble, and bar top crafted from thousands of pennies between sups from the extensive wine selection, which boasts more than 26 available sippables donning their most dinner-appropriate red-and-white frocks.
