Like any worthwhile sports bar, Sidelines Sports Bar & Grill plasters its walls with neon beer signs, sports memorabilia, and a hefty amount of flat-screen televisions. But unlike other sports bars, up to 100 wings pile atop platters in a choice of 14 flavors and sauces, including Hotter Than Hell, caribbean-jerk rub, and parmesan garlic. Toss back 16 different draft beers while cheering on your favorite team or better your aim at one of the pool tables. When it's time to refuel, indulge in fried corn on the cob and the bar?s namesake burger, a patty crafted with Angus ground chuck, sirloin, and brisket.

Some partnerships—Fred and Ginger, Holmes and Watson, Rocky and Bullwinkle—seem predestined for greatness. Such was the case with Jeff and Jill Van Horne. Jeff, a wine collector, married his talents with Jill's gourmet cooking to create The Wine Loft, where their chemistry translates into delicious food and drink pairings. Stepping inside is akin to joining one of their dinner parties, with fellow guests lounging on sofas throughout the space and ordering cocktails or beer from the full bar.

Of course, the starring libation is wine. The cellar below the restaurant can store close to 2,000 bottles at a steady 58 degrees. More than 200 wines arrive at tables by the bottle, and 75 can be poured by the glass, complementing a variety of small plates and entrees. If you aren't sure what libation would best bring out the flavor of your lamb lollipops, servers gladly assist—or, you could attend one of The Wine Loft's wine education classes. These meet monthly to cover topics such as matching wine with chocolate or observing proper wine etiquette, which dictates that whomever uncorks the bottle must plant the cork and raise the resultant tree.

Slate-colored walls and exposed pipes lend an industrial air to the elegant red curtains and wooden wine racks of Serendipity Bistro. In fact, the curated wine list is one of the bistro's specialties, next to the flatbread pizzas and paninis made from scratch and paired with everything from turkey and apple chutney to shrimp artichoke pesto. Some evenings, guests can also share pitchers of sangria, a sweetened wine beverage the Spanish invented to lull pet tigers into their afternoon siestas.

Like any great Italian meal, made-from-scratch dishes at Spaghetti Warehouse are created from family recipes passed down for generations. Using fresh ingredients ranging from ricotta, romano, and mozzarella cheeses to house-made tomato sauce and Italian sausage, chefs labor for up to three days to prepare batches of their 15-layer signature lasagna from scratch. The menu also offers perfectly al dente pasta, bottomless soups, and 12-layer chocolate cakes to share with family and friends.

It?s that feeling of togetherness that people love about Spaghetti Warehouse, a feeling that is only enhanced when the drinks start flowing and the air is punctuated by the sounds of laughter as kids play retro games, such as The Claw prize-grabbing machine. To reach their table, guests commonly have to step through two doors: the front door of the restaurant and the door of the antique trolley parked inside. Since its inception in 1972, the Italian eatery has merged the functions of kitchen and museum. Artifacts such as grandfather clocks, factory flywheels, and circus billboards surround diners as they delve into Italian creations.

Buttery dough made daily on the premises lays the savory groundwork for Uno Chicago Grill’s signature deep-dish pizzas, perfected from the Windy City’s original 1943 recipe. Today, at the Dayton outpost of the pizza empire, thick crusts don mozzarella and romano cheeses alongside chunky tomato sauce, slices of pepperoni, and caramelized onions. American dishes round out the hearty menu, from steaks and chops to sandwiches such as the Firecracker chicken stacked with housemade guacamole and spicy buffalo cheddar. Desserts, such as chocolate-strawberry pizza and bread pudding with salted-caramel sauce, top off each meal.
