The photographer behind LaLaLand Works has a mission: to provide high-quality work with a personal touch. During shoots, she goes on-location to her client's choice of spot—indoor or outdoor—to photograph families, couples, children, and high-school seniors. She also uses her talents behind the lens to capture wedding pictures, boudoir shots, and business photos for proud CEOs to keep in their wallets.
It was a personal event that sparked J Renee's passion for photography—she picked up her first camera the day her son was born. Armed with a love for her craft and a fine-arts degree from the University of Dayton, she snaps photos of weddings, families, newborns, high-school seniors, and cameras that don't yet have any pictures of themselves. Whether on-location or in her studio, the photographer focuses on capturing her subjects' true essence. This results in photos that are peppered with natural smiles and candid interactions, mirroring the comfort and warmth that J Renee herself brings to each shoot.
Photographer Dan Cleary is much more than a photographer—he's an artist. In fact, Dan has a Masters of Fine Arts degree to prove it. Perhaps that's why, as the photographer at Cleary Creative Portraits, he's been in business for more than two decades. Or perhaps it's the promise he makes to his clients that if they aren't over the moon about their photos, he'll return their payment in full. But with his eye for capturing family portraits, newborn babies, wedding days, and other special occasions, those instances are rarities.
As a child, Lauren Schierloh grabbed her father’s 35-milimeter Nikon and took her first steps into a passion that would later become her career. Today she arms herself with the latest digital technology to capture every last detail and emotion during portrait sessions for families, kids, couples, and moms-to-be. Lauren wants to capture moments in time through her photography so clients, like she does, can recall everything surrounding an exact instant with one glance at a picture.
In the last 40 years, Portrait Scene's photographers have helped to memorialize special moments in the lives of thousands of children, teens, and adults across the country. By constantly working with families, they have mastered the art of calming toddlers and keeping parents still enough to say or even pasteurize cheese. Outdoor shoots make use of natural tones, such as those of crystal-blue lake waters and green, leafy trees. In the spring months, photos brim with the pastel buds of tulips and the shine of bluebirds applying makeup for the first time all year.
Colorcraft Portrait Studio's photo shoots don't just document families' special moments—they may save lives. Colorcraft's central mission is to raise funds for local volunteer firefighters, rescue workers, and EMS crews through donations received in exchange for family portraits. Over the decades, three generations of photographers have helped raise more than one million dollars through the program, providing emergency workers with indispensable life-saving equipment and training programs.
