It's another world underwater, populated with life almost alien. Making the exploration of that world affordable and accessible is why the founders of Scuba Network opened seven instructional scuba centers throughout New Jersey, New York, and southeast Florida. At all of the locations, certified divers lead Scuba classes that allow first-timers to slip into scuba gear and see what it's like to breathe underwater and sprout their first gills. For those left entranced by the experience, Scuba Network offers an Open Water Scuba Certification course, during which learn a variety of scuba techniques in a pool before embarking on open dives. Scuba Network also sells all the necessary equipment from brands such as Mares and Aeris, and also organize dive travel packages to exotic locales such as the Galapagos and the Mayan Riviera in Cozumel, Mexico.
The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous centers understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don’t try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of a skills assessment using diagnostic tools and one-on-one interviews.
Tutors work with students from pre-kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan’s instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results. Camps and after-school and summer classes can ready high-schoolers for the rigors of the ACT or the SAT, or they can help students to wow college-admissions officers with their superior essay-writing skills.
Florida is home to some iconic locations, but beneath its various waters, the Sunshine State is a different world, largely untouched by man. North Florida has fresh water diving caves. Central Florida's rivers brim with manatees and other creatures. And of course, the Atlantic Ocean hugs the coast, containing everything from reefs to colorful fish to shipwrecks converted to the bachelor pads of eligible mermen.
World of Scuba helps divers explore all of these aquatic destinations. Led by owner and scuba industry veteran Bob Meadows, the certified instructors train divers in pools, shallow waters, and open waters until they obtain various PADI and TDI certifications. They also charter scuba trips and plan custom diving itineraries.
For live-fire training, instructors rely on local facilities including Trail Glades Range and Revere Gun Range.
One glance at any Centerfire Training & Consulting instructor's bio should be enough to put a student at ease, since they each have a background in the military, police force, or other fields. Take instructor Carl Hannold, for example. He served in both the US Army and US Marine Corps before working in the police force for more than two decades. Mr. Hannold and his certified colleagues teach NRA firearms classes, as well as other topics ranging from security-officer certification to emergency medical training.
