  • Dead Frog Brewery
Years ago, Derrick and Donna Smith began brewing a quartet of ales together, the steaming vats of barley filling their small facility with steam. They quickly gained the attention of beer drinkers and critics and expanded into a 10,000-square-foot space. There, they invite you to check out new craft brews such as Classic Nut Brown Ale, Bold Belgian Pale Ale, and Seasonal Citrus Wit. Rotating seasonal suds fill the recognizable frog-emblazoned bottles with beers whose flavors vary with the season. Derrick and Donna offer clients a peek inside their operation with tours and tastings.

  • Boundary Bay Brewery & Bistro
From the beginning, Boundary Bay Brewery knew they wanted to make the kinds of beers that they liked to drink: big, bold Northwest brews. They began producing award-winning handcrafted beers and quickly became a place where the locals love to go. They believe strongly in local economy and in keeping their community vibrant and healthy. To that end, Boundary Bay Brewery partner with at least 15 local suppliers/farmers to create a menu of fun, fresh Northwest pub food and help support over 100 local non-profits annually. Located in a restored historic warehouse, the brewery opened in 1995 with the goal of brewing bold, flavorful beers. It quickly became popular with locals, who now make use of the space year-round. During the summer, crowds come out to dine on the deck or drink light, refreshing brews in the beer garden. Seven taps are devoted to house brews that are always on tap, while the others are for seasonal brews, brewing experiments like single hop ales and small batch beers that are only brewed rarely. Two cask beers are always available as well. When the weather grows cold, beers like Cabin Fever, a strong-brewed winter ale, rise in popularity and no table seems to lack plates of locally caught sockeye salmon or nachos with housemade salsa and a plethora of additional ingredients from the family-friendly bistro. Although the craft brewery's offerings are representative of the Northwest, the brews have amassed more than 100 impressive awards from festivals and competitions across the country.

  • Grapefully Yours
In 1993, Ms. Bonny Brown formed Grapefully Yours to bring the secrets of wine- and beer-making to the masses. Today, her dream is housed inside Grape Plus Wine Cellar, which is owned by Betsy Rong. Her staff walks customers through selecting and fermenting their chosen brew—a simple process that can treat palates to dozens of red, white, and fruit mist wines, which fuse juicy flavours such as banana and pineapple. An air conditioner's gentle breeze keeps mixtures cool on their journey from grape to wine before bottle-filling and corking machines ready potables to pour into wineglasses or empty ice-cube trays. Additionally, the staff can emblazon bottles with custom labels or dispense beer kits that let customers create bubbly lagers and ales.

  • Fleetwood Arms Pub Ltd
Just past Fleetwood Arms Pub's classic red awning, leather armchairs, wood panelling, and a crackling brick fireplace await loyal regulars, who frequent the eatery as much for its warm, inviting atmosphere as its menu of traditional pub cuisine. As flat-screen televisions broadcast sporting events, servers shuttle fish and chips, burgers, shepherd's pies, and imported draft beers to lacquered wood tables. Throughout the week, the strains of live music and karaoke cut through the pub's standard soundscape of jovial chit-chat and mournful whale song.

  • Forest Ale House
Boasting new edible creations from Chef Peter Link, The Tudor Ale House menu and The Forest Ale House menu each pair domestic and imported pours with classic pub fare and fine dining entrees. For herbivorous eaters and their yak bodyguards, veggie quesadillas burrow peppers, onions, spices, and cheese into an extra large tortilla. Simmered in marinara sauce, meat-stuffed cabbage rolls join potato and cheese perogies at The Tudor Ale House, and fried-chicken strips marinated in buttermilk and dipped in seasoned flour slink into The Forest Ale House's honey-mustard or sweet-chili dipping sauce. Breaded and fried schnitzel at either establishment audibly tiptoes its crisp crust over to tables on a bed of seasonal vegetables. A large selection of draft beers and highball cocktails further complements courses.
