Traditional Okinawan styles that emphasize efficiency and leverage as the basis for defense instead of relying on strength to "over power" an opponent. Our approach can be practiced by almost anyone regardless age or limitations. Great for developing confidence, focus and fitness.
Mean Green CrossFit director Taylor Compton draws on her 13 years of experience as a competitive gymnast to help exercisers achieve the same physical condition that got her into National Physique Committee shows. After becoming enamored with CrossFit's challenging daily workouts and supportive community, she began taking exercisers of all skill levels under her wing, pushing them to their limits with CrossFit’s individually tailored, high-intensity workouts. Unlike gaudy gyms, Mean Green doesn’t have steam rooms, wall-length mirrors, or butlers that will pedal stationary bicycles for you while you drink a frappuccino. Instead, visitors walk into a no-frills-necessary setting where athletes swing on gymnastic rings, hoist barbells, and pummel punching bags.
The instructors at Denton Boxing Club teach their students to follow in the footwork and land punches in the fist prints of the great boxers who have come before them. That doesn't mean they're a bunch of roughnecks, though. Rather, they embrace the sport’s classic training style, focusing on fitness during group lessons and reserving actual sparring instruction for private sessions. In addition to arming students with self-defense-style combos, these group classes increase strength through sessions with the heavy bag, and boost stamina with targeted of cardio and endurance work. Designed by actual boxers, classes also torch calories and slim down waistlines, and boost overall fitness with workouts that engage muscle groups throughout the body.
After rising through the ranks, taking leadership of an aikido school, and attaining a third-degree black belt, John Thompson decided he wanted to try something that would push him even harder. He tried CrossFit at the urging of his sensei, and was quickly able to feel its positive impact on both his martial-arts practice and everyday life. Now, he shares the system with others through training sessions at CrossFit Denton. Outfitted with everything from pull-up bars to plyo boxes, the gym is specially designed to maximize the impact of the lauded strength-and-conditioning program. There, exercisers bust through whole-body workouts, which change every day to encourage muscle confusion and prevent burnout.
The personal trainers that head BodyByU Fitness know what it's like to struggle with health and fitness. They've come a long way since they first started exercising, but they're also still striving to reach their own fitness goals. That's why they're the ideal buddy to accompany an exerciser on his or her journey to lose weight or bulk up.
Because they know how important accountability is when it comes to exercise, they keep in closer touch with clients than a mom who just learned how to text. By combining in-person boot camps with meal planning, personal training, and virtual boot camps (which only require an Internet connection), they help clients plow toward fit, healthy bodies.
