To maintain lush, green yards, Steve's Yard Service powers lawn mowers with more than 10 years of experience. They spruce up home landscapes with services such as weekly mowing, flowerbed maintenance, and aeration, a process that inserts small holes into lawns to deliver nutrients to soil and increase the oxygen flow into earthworms' underground condos. Steve's staff also installs annual flowers, cleans out gutters, and trims hedges. They'll even paint a house with a color that best indicates its owner’s mood.
12 years of horticultural knowledge and over 5 years professionally designing gardens sets my work apart from a typical landscaper. Focus on right plant, right place, and deep understanding of my client's aesthetic using clear communication. "Planting the seeds of great design."
A gypsy rides through the crowd while standing upon two horses. Behind him follow more members of his troupe, who do back flips off their steeds and then regale spectators with fire breathing and juggling. Performed by the seventh-generation acrobats of Cavallo Equestrian Arts, this spectacle—called Ma'Ceo—often draws standing-room-only crowds every day during the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire. It's these kinds of glimpses into the Elizabethan era that fulfill the mission of bringing renaissance Europe to life. Turning the Kelley Farm into the Village of Merriwick, entertainers of all types, from courtiers to peasants, engage fairgoers with a range of acts. Flanked by her entourage, Queen Elizabeth travels through the streets, perhaps on her way to watch the jousters compete for her phone number, or perhaps to watch sprightly performers such as the Celtic fiddlers or the commedia troupe. Merchants peddle wares to passersby, talking up goods such as hand-forged weapons and armor, hand-tooled leather goods, and roasted turkey legs. Camel rides and bubble-filled buckets cater to kids, and adults can duck into two alehouses where quick-witted wenches pour draft microbrews and ciders. For guests who want to spend the whole weekend immersed in the renaissance festivities, organizers reserve a section of the grounds for tent and RV camping.
Once an organic farm itself, Full Circle is dedicated to making organic produce as widely available as possible. Working closely with organic farms, Full Circle delivers fresh, organic, healthy pesticide-free and herbicide-free produce.
The Full Circle process fosters benefits for all parties involved—customers can keep healthy by eating organically while supporting green farmers whose eco-friendly practices create nutrient-rich organic produce that will then be sold back to the customers, now dizzy from spinning.
Licensed cheese artisan Julie Steil and her husband Rob once crafted cheeses as a part-time hobby, until encouragement from those who had tasted the results prompted them to turn the delectable pastime into a full-time passion. Today, the Steils manage their own herd of goats and cows who lead pampered lives on the couple's 20-acre farm, where a diet of alfalfa, blackberry thickets, and chocolate syrup yield better-tasting milk. The Steils create different cheeses in small batches, ranging from a semihard cheese bathed in raspberry port to a raw milk tomme bathed in Naughty Nellie ale from Pike Brewery. Landing River Valley Cheese on Sunset magazine's list of the Top 100 Cultural Trends Shaping the West, Julie and Rob also share their love of fromage fashioning at hands-on cheese-making classes, where attendees can learn to create their own wheels of fresh and aged cheeses, instead of relying on the questionable quality of the cheeses peddled by door-to-door sales cows.
