Working from internationally accepted CIDESCO curricula, The New Age Spa Institute pupils learn the fine arts of aesthetics, massage therapy, professional makeup applications. Nail services include design, artificial and gel nails, tips, wraps, fill-ins, shaping, and polishing. Experienced instructors closely supervise senior students in the onsite clinic as they apply noncomodogenic Bioelements products during aesthetic services, which include microdermabrasion, waxing, oil body wraps, and facials. The students hone their makeup, massage, and nail-tech skills in a 3,200-square-foot facility that includes a full spa, a wet room with a Vichy shower, and a scale model of Mount Rushmore that students practice slathering with moisturizing SPF.

Billboard Latin Music Hall of Fame inductee Marco Antonio Solís brings years of ballad-crooning mastery to his live shows, tickling ears and riveting eyes with his magnetic stage presence. Buoyed by the effervescent, folksy tunes of his backup band, Solís's honeyed tenor soars to rarified heights while his trademark flowing mane hypnotizes audience members and fills wigs with impotent rage. Drawing on a catalog of chart-topping hits from his solo career, Solís fills ears with such familiar melodies as "Asi Como Te Conoci," "Tu Amor o Tu Desprecio," and "Ojalá." Solís will be joined by Mexican singer-songwriter and fellow hit-maker Ana Gabriel. Euphonic masterpieces will be crafted in the cavernous Allstate Arena, which boasts stadium seating and a protective roof that prevents dulcet tones from floating away and napping geese from entangling themselves in people’s hair.

When Director Tony Youhanna and George Solomos founded Little Legends Soccer Academy in 2009, they found themselves filling a niche. At the time, the North Shore offered no quality soccer coaching for youngsters interested in the game. Their first session was a success, drawing thirty eager players, but it didn't prepare them for the popularity that was to come. Since that day, the academy has ballooned: more than 300 children ages 24 months to 8 years old are currently enrolled in its various programs.

Each clinic helps kids build soccer fundamentals such as foot skills, passing, and receiving in an environment that encourages fun and teamwork. Very young players—24 to 36 months—start off in the Born to Kick program, which couples soccer skills with mind-nurturing topics such as shapes, colors, and vocabulary. As children get older and their skills progress, they move into clinics aimed at more advanced techniques, eventually putting them to work in games. The academy's Space program—standing for speed, agility, core, and endurance—does away with the soccer ball altogether, focusing instead on exercises to improve footwork, speed, and balance.

Since their inception in 1994, the Chicago Wolves have never had a losing season. They took home the Turner Cup twice before the IHL folded, and since joining the AHL in the 2001–02 season, they have claimed the Calder Cup twice as well. As the team seeks to out-shoot opponents on the ice at Rosemont's Allstate Arena, lupine mascot Skates prowls the stadium to hand out high-fives, sign autographs, and lecture crowd members on the hazardous properties of silver.

As 2011 wanes into 2012, the annual Chicago NYE Ball sprawls through three rooms of gambling, drinking, and dancing until the wee hours. More than 10 local DJs with state-of-the-art sound and lighting systems fuel club moves before headliner Lil Jon leads the charge to midnight with party-themed hits such as "Get Low" and remixes of LMFAO's "Shots" and "Drink," riding the success of recent album Crunk Rock. Up to 5,000 revelers will fill the halls with jubilant rumpus from noisemakers and party favors. To give dancers a breather, 15 dealers staff a Las Vegas–style casino boasting craps, roulette, blackjack, and guess-how-many-jelly-beans jars, donating 100% of all proceeds to Kids Fight Cancer. At midnight, Lil Jon counts down to the new year before a confetti storm pelts partiers, letting couples embrace under the cover of vibrant paper snow. A strict dress code requires all attendees to wear ball-appropriate gear, such as dresses, ties, and glass shoes.
