Teeming with 10 returning players, including 2010–11 Horizon League Newcomer of the Year Ray McCallum, the Titans enamor fans and frustrate opponents with fast-paced play and dunking prowess. Today’s deal treats guests to upper-reserved seats equipped with chairbacks comfier than a blanket sewn from Peeps, allowing them to relax during their choice of more than 16 regular-season games. Fans can cheer on the Titans as they face fierce contenders such as St. John’s (December 5) and Butler (January 8). Fueled by applause from his dad, who doubles as the team’s coach, McCallum looks to lead scoring for a second year. Senior center Chase Simon will join senior forward Nick Minnerath to amass points and host fiery midcourt debates about the existence of gravity.
Although the Detroit Repertory Theatre packs plenty of laugh-grabbers and tear-jerkers into each season, its artists have more on their minds than just entertaining theatergoers. The actors, playwrights, producers, and directors of the Repertory want to unite all Metropolitan Detroit communities under a banner of creativity. It's a lofty ambition, but the theater hasn't lost focus on that goal since it first opened in 1957. As the oldest alternative professional theater company in the state, it prides itself on having weathered storms economic, social, and literal, and continues to produce four shows a year that remind audiences of the power of live performance.
Those shows often feature scripts from the most promising talents in the Midwest, and aim to be as thought-provoking as they are engaging. The theater follows practices of ethnicity- and gender-blind casting whenever possible, ensuring that the people on stage represent the range of people in the audience. And that dedication to community extends beyond the footlights?the theater welcomes play submissions from local writers, and displays pieces from Michigan artists in the lobby.

Palmer Park Golf Course may be a short, flat layout designed for beginners?but that doesn't mean it hasn't attracted its fair share of heavyweights. Since it was founded in 1927, boxer Joe Louis, singer Marvin Gaye, and members of The Temptations and Four Tops have all played the course. Though each of them gained fame in their respective fields, they all looked to Palmer Park as a place suitable for their more modest skills as golfers and budding interests in amateur turf management. In additional to traditional rounds, Palmer Park also features footgolf on the front nine, where players navigate the fairways by kicking soccer balls toward soccer ball-sized holes.
Course at a Glance: * 18-hole, par 71 course * Total length of 6,007 yards from the back tees * Three sets of tees per hole * View the scorecard
