Aloha Mind Math Reading Writing helps kids aged 5–12 flex the sponginess of their brains by teaching them not only important concepts in math and reading and writing, but also inventive techniques for grappling with those important concepts. On the math side, the certified and well-trained tutors teach the abacus method to give first–fifth graders a strong foundation in mental math. The junior math program teaches 5- and 6-year-olds to understand numbers with multiple digits. Meanwhile, the senior math program graduates 12-year-olds with an ability to perform operations such as 914 x 325 in their heads, rather than by making a rectangle with a width of 914 action figures and a length of 325 action figures and then counting up all the action figures.
Alternatively, the reading and writing program helps children make sense of the world of letters. Ninety-minute lessons coupled with supplemental at-home work guide kids from understanding punctuation and parts of speech in first grade to learning about clauses and conjunctions in fifth grade, imparting a preparedness for middle-school language-arts classes. This part of the program also teaches them to read fiction and nonfiction, with such valuable concepts as inference, context, comparing and contrasting, and understanding that author’s view doesn’t have anything to do with J.K. Rowling’s penthouse vista. The reading and writing program also helps children cultivate their own writing skills, advancing them from simple descriptive sentences to persuasive, expository, and story writing at the fifth grade level.

At both Chino Hills locations, coaches motivate clients of all ages and fitness levels to reach their goals with Fit Body Boot Camp's challenging, tried-and-true fitness strategies. They pump up accountability with a healthy dose of positive reinforcement as they lead group sessions that integrate cardio with resistance training, strength training, and light alligator wrestling. They've designed these workouts to be time efficient and varied in order to avoid common workout plateaus that may leave clients uninspired. Each week, they lead more than 50 boot-camp classes, all of which take place indoors on specially designed foam flooring to protect joints from wear and tear. The studio specializes in power yoga, a version of Vinyasa flow that distills the style’s fast pace and energetic movements into a series of postures that bend, invert, and twist the body to increase flexibility and strengthen muscles. Legs rise high above flushed cheeks during graceful warrior poses designed to boost stamina and focus, and bare toes wiggle in the air during inverted positions or spontaneous levitations.
Turn N Burn Studio's seasoned instructors help students dance, stretch, and pedal toward fitness goals in more than 20 weekly classes. Designed for beginning bikers, Cycle 101's upbeat, one-hour ride raises participants' heart rates with sprinting challenges and pictures of their middle-school hairdos. Zumba sessions torch calories and tone core muscles with Latin-inspired dance moves, and Hot Hula workouts define abs, glutes, and quads with polynesian choreography set to reggae drumbeats. For a fast track to flatter torsos, trainees traverse 50-minute “Ab”tastic Bootcamp sessions, which define core muscles with interval-based workouts designed to give students time to rest, ravage, and repeat.

All classes are organized according to age level (starting as young as seven months) and designed to incorporate the latest physiological, psychological, and meteorological research. The Chino Hills location offers one-hour programs for all developmental degrees, from Tiny Tykes, a class for parents and babies that focuses on movement, to Champions, for six- to eight-year-olds to master sports and gymnastics skills. Tadpoles aged seven to 13 years learn to be fitness frogs in the Cardio Kids class, which works specific bits of brawn through a four-station circuit training course; instructors also stress the importance of nutrition and frown on the consumption of swamp insects.
