At CrossFit Suwanee, trainers take full advantage of Suwanee Sports Academy’s 100,000 square feet of training space. With an arsenal of CrossFit equipment, they get members pumping weights, tossing medicine balls, and swinging from gymnastics rings, and the indoor track makes sprints possible year-round. Through the CrossFit system, instructors prep their charges using daily workouts that feature everyday movements such as pushing, pulling, and running. Routines change each day to ward off boredom while also pushing each muscle group to its peak for optimal full-body results.
Though World Mission Athletics does promote the martial art as a means of self-defense, its classes feature a wealth of other benefits. Often with physical strength and dexterity comes mental acuity, commitment, leadership skills, and the confidence necessary for opening pickle jars by yourself. The class schedule welcomes everyone from Little Dragons (ages 4–6) to adults.
During their frequent appearances on NBC's American Ninja Warrior, elite athletes from around the country test the limits of human fitness against an unforgiving obstacle course. When they're not on camera, where do they go to get so buff? Some of them train at CrossFit Lilburn 678, where seasoned trainers specialize in getting the most out of every workout. Here, students spend their days plowing through a high intensity work out of the day, learning personalized lessons during one-on-one personal-training sessions, or testing their mettle against obstacles like the ones seen on television.
Ask one of the coaches at Operation CrossFit to define CrossFit, and they'll probably say it's "constantly varied, high intensity, functional movement." Then ask them to describe the typical workout, and they'll probably say there isn't one. On any given day, it could be a series of kettlebell swings, pull-ups, and double unders?jumping rope with two revolutions per jump?in 10 minutes. Such a workout challenges every metabolic pathway, not to mention builds strength and cardiovascular endurance. Tomorrow, the workout might be a series of 200-meter runs interspersed with air squats and percussive panting.
By constantly changing the workout, CrossFit prepares the body for anything. Head coach Peyton Warren and his team lead every group workout, upholding the CrossFit ethos of support and encouragement by adjusting exercises to accommodate all levels of fitness. They also mix up locales, often taking things outside. For those with specific goals, Operation's coaches gladly lend their expertise to helping students train for events such as obstacle races and castle-tower escapes.
Although each of the seven Just Fitness 4U locations has its own distinctions?such as the Lawrenceville location's 24/7 hours or the Marietta location's 25,000 sq. ft. facility and marble lobby?they more or less share the same tools for getting in shape. For starters, each is furnished with state-of-the-art Life Fitness and Hammer Strength equipment, which can be used or lifted to increase strength. Moreover, the facilities have a team of certified personal trainers and group fitness instructors who lead one-on-one workouts and fitness classes such Pilates, Zumba, yoga, and spinning, respectively.
CrossFit 2B Strong's 3,000 square-foot facility is devoid of treadmills, weight machines, stationary cycles, and other hefty gym staples. Instead, visitors rely on pull-up bars, ropes, kettlebells, and free weights, as well as their own bodies as they squat, jump, run, and perform the various other functional movements that are the focus of the CrossFit philosophy. And because each workout is scalable, CrossFit is accessible to trainees of all ages and fitness levels.
