As a dancer and choreographer of 20 years, Sonya Peed Kuropatwa became aware of the oft-hidden connection between mind and body. She took up yoga to explore that idea further, and became so impassioned that she completed two certification programs. Now, she shares her findings with others at her studio MF Yoga, guiding new yogis through breathing exercises and Vinyasa-style poses in one-hour classes. She makes an effort to accommodate beginners with slow-paced sessions that focus on finding proper posture alignments and learning to connect deep breaths with movement. More advanced sessions test students' mental and physical strength with challenges such as practicing in a heated room or attempting to hug your own inner child.
