Determined to keep their students interested and engaged, the instructors of Wine and Palette hold classes at myriad locations throughout the city. Each class focuses on a different art piece, be it a painting of a stained-glass window, a multihued owl, or an autumn farm scene. Additionally, each artist brings their own outlook and skills to the class, helping students learn specific brush strokes and how to touch up their daily driver so it looks just like the sheriff?s squad car.
At Sunstone Yoga, students radiate calm and self-awareness as they practice ancient poses designed to stretch, strengthen, and purify the body. Instructors complete 500 hours of training in yogic techniques, teaching, and physiology before leading classes, so they can hand out researched, tested tips on safety and alignment. Most classes come in 30-, 60-, and 90-minute varieties and focus on energy or restorative relaxation.
A two-class introductory series welcomes beginners with basic standing poses, and the popular fire series explores up to 34 poses in a 99-degree room that loosens muscles to facilitate deeper stretches as it ousts toxins. Filled with soothing music and 90-degree temperatures, the water series cultivates more serenity than getting a massage from a singing whale.
Jeremy D. Jackson holds three distinct certifications from the National Academy of Sports Medicine, from personal trainer to corrective exercise specialist. He understands not only how to build muscle and burn fat, but how the musculature and skeleton should work in concert to keep the body healthy. He puts this knowledge—honed over eight years in the fitness industry—to work in The GetFit Nation's outdoor boot camps held at locations all across Dallas.
Jeremy and his trainers alter their prescribed regimen daily, increasing the rate of calorie consumption and muscle growth by refusing to let their clients' bodies adapt to repetitive motions. Though comprised of an every-changing array of exercises, each complete regimen builds the body's abilities for functional movement, strength, and power.
Brick House's Shannon Caldwell and her twisting team of certified yogis organically intertwine physical and spiritual well-being into fun, creative workouts. Patrons can peruse a varied schedule as flexible as a gummy bear in a sauna to complement their fitness goals. Fledgling frame folders can learn the basics in the beginner course, or practice deep, focused breathing for more upbeat evenings and improved apple-polishing abilities in an all-levels session. VinHatha classes hone health with a hodgepodge of yoga poses and props, and Yin classes foster proper floor postures and sow serenity, emphasizing awareness of bone-deep connective tissues.
