Black Belt Institute hosts a variety of fitness and martial-arts classes for students of all ages. With more than 40 years of martial-arts experience behind him, Grand Master Yu has claimed a long list of accomplishments—among these are a position as a US Army instructor, a seventh-degree black belt in tae kwon do, and a fourth-degree black belt in hapkido. As the head instructor at Master Yu's Power Kick, he leads a team of black-belt-level martial-arts masters and instructors with similarly impressive credentials. These coaches train children as young as 2, as well as adults, in the basic strikes and movements of cardio kickboxing, Muay Thai boxing, and MMA. They also teach a sparring technique known as kumite to their most adventurous students, who learn respect and attention to detail through the ancient art.
When Shilpa Deshpande came to America from India, she brought more than just her possessions. She brought a passion for Bollywoood and Bhakti-style dance, a passion she transformed into a viable business. She started iKan Bfit, where she transforms bodies into healthier versions of themselves through Bollywood dance. She teaches classes multiple times a week, going through routines set to upbeat music. She also choreographs specific dances for clients’ special occasions, such as weddings or otherwise stodgy congressional depositions.
