Even while informational videos play, most eyes go immediately to one element of Wings to Soar's touring program?the birds of prey flying overhead. The sessions are the brainchild of John Stokes and Dale Kernahan, who use the nonprofit to tirelessly raise awareness about these birds' vital role in the natural world. John and Dale's other raptor-centric programs include opportunities to learn handling techniques with nine different birds, including hawks and owls. In addition to letting attendees interact with the birds, Wings to Soar's team remains dedicated to caring for non-releasable birds, even helping to save the peregrine falcon from extinction.
At more than 900 learning centers across the world, Sylvan offers kids a leg up through personalized, one-on-one programs prescribed by an in-depth skills assessment. Students build on past lessons to learn progressively, and sessions may hone in on different disciplines, granting kids the confidence to interpret literature and the rhetorical skills needed to negotiate a later bedtime. The positive mindset of personable, invested instructors helps to inspire kids to greater academic feats, as does a prize program that rewards hard work with CDs and gift cards.

Weak cognitive skills can make it difficult for students to fully grasp and understand concepts, even after extensive tutoring and reteaching. LearningRx's brain-training programs aim to strengthen those skills so students can improve their capacity to learn.
At the center, assessment tests are given first to seek out areas that need more work and determine which brain-training programs are suitable for the student. Then LearningRx's experts work with students one-on-one to give them immediate feedback and encouragement to overcome their challenges. The center welcomes children and adults of all ages, as well as visitors with attention disorders, autism, and dyslexia. The brain-training sessions can also help participants gain a competitive advantage in college or in their careers.
The back wall at ArtsyU⎯marked by multiple hues sectioned into Mondrianesque blocks of color⎯is an expression of the vibrant ambiance that characterizes the studio. It pops with color, creating a welcoming environment for painters to experiment with their own designs. Visitors come to this artistically designed studio to unleash creativity, often bringing along a bottle of wine to aid in the process. Seated side-by-side on stools, they dip brushes into provided acrylic paints. With an instructor's guidance, they render images that range from a peacock fanning its tail to a flower holding perfectly still.
