With an artistic staff that works hard to master the latest beautification techniques, Shimmer Salon and Day Spa provides reservation-holding customers with a full crate of spa and salon services. Get your hair overhauled with a cut, shampoo, and style ($30–$40; longer or more intricate styles may cost more) from a stylist who understands how to make hair fit with eye color, personality, and social security number. Detoxify a face with a 60-minute classique facial ($70), which employs botanically-based skincare compounds to cleanse dirty mugs until they shine like much newer mugs. Various mani-pedis keep nails firmly attached, and a 60-minute Swedish massage ($70) will relax your body and help it deal with the stresses of raising a bat cub.

What?s your favorite part about your job?
My job is so personal. What other field of work can you go in and touch so many lives in a day? Knowing I can literarily make someone's day better by fixing a not-so-good haircut, or giving them the make over of their lives, is amazing. I believe it's one-hundred percent true that when you look good, you feel good?and when you feel good, you do good.
The interior of a business can affect how its customers feel. What kind of decor do you use to help make your clients feel pampered and at ease?
My salon is painted in a shade of lavender, which helps clients feel calm. All of our decor is classic yet vintage-inspired, and it includes lovely photos of our bridal clients on their wedding days.
What is one fun, unusual fact about your business?
We travel on-location to do a bride's hair and makeup on her wedding day.
Over the years, stylist Jaymie Hazard has honed her craft in Paris, New York, and Boston, styling hair for photo shoots and fashion shows. She and the staff at Enlightenment Day Spa bring the same level of professionalism to clients, where they provide haircuts, hair color, keratin treatments, and hair extensions, as well as makeup applications, mani-pedis, and waxing services.
From the outside it looks like a single-family home, complete with a brick chimney jutting from the roof and a garage in back. But since 1979, the only occupants of the house have been the barbers, stylists, and aestheticians of Shear Dimensions. The staff is populated by such veterans as Pat Petronio, a barber who's been cutting hair for more than 40 years. Elsewhere on staff you'll find licensed massage therapist Donna Celona, who is well-versed not only in massage techniques, but in linguistics as well; the Brazilian native speaks five languages fluently, and can perform four distinct types of massages.
If you're looking to upgrade your look?or your record cabinet?look no further than Society Salon. It's half hairstyling hub, half vinyl boutique, so the space is no stranger to edgier sensibilities. Confirming this is the spot's Instagram account, where you'll spot men and women sporting candy-colored locks, mile-high mohawks, and labyrinthine shaved-hair designs. While Society's stylists don't shy away from elaborate rock 'n' roll dos, they also craft more classic styles such as bouncy layers and warm caramel ombre color. In addition to hairstylists, the salon staffs massage therapists who work to ease aches and impart relaxation.
