Lisa Marie, the founder of Creative Ambiance Events, recognizes that no two parties are alike, and so tailors her floral and decor services to meet each client’s needs. Having studied at design school in Boston and overseas at the Sorbonne, Lisa brings an artistic eye to her decoration business, planning and executing design schemes for weddings, bar mitzvahs, corporate events, and more. She works with a dedicated team to ensure that tables twinkle with candles and vases brim with hydrangeas instead of tears.
At any given moment, there might be three kinds of bars operating inside Amalfi Oceanside. One produces signature cocktails ready to be sipped in view of the Narragansett beach. Another, which springs up on Sundays, allows visitors to concoct their preferred variants on a bloody mary to pair with their brunches. The third is a raw bar, where lobster tails sit alongside native littleneck clams and oysters that were farmed locally, rather than shipped via friendly pelican.
These seafood samples function as chilled appetizers for a host of oceanic entrees. Pasta options such as shrimp scampi and the seafood fra diavolo—mussels, clams, shrimp, lobster, and marinara sauce over linguine—complement plates of baked cod and pan-seared scallops. Lobster sliders and beer-battered-fish tacos also augment a list of burgers and sandwiches. Breaking from the maritime theme, rib-eye steaks and grilled specialty pizzas round out the menu in addition to slow-roasted cuts of prime rib, which are only available on Fridays—like a feeling of relief among America's work force.
Ease into the day with a 6:45 a.m. Vinsyana yoga class with rising-sun salutations on Mondays or empower your prettiest part with a belly-dance class on Thursdays. Hula-hoop dance and urban hip-hop bring rhythm, grace, and choreography into any weekly routine or routine of salvaging dryer lint to stuff a spare mattress. New classes are added to The Spot's schedule about every six weeks, so fast learners can mix and match their five to master the fancy footwork of a wide array of dances (all classes must be redeemed within five weeks of attending the first session.)
Even after 30 years, the culinary wizards at Blue Grotto are still committed to refining the restaurant?s menu, continually assessing its classic Italian dishes and asking how they can improve them. Rather than dulling meals with premade ingredients, the chefs instead prefer to work from scratch with local, seasonal ingredients. They prepare as much as possible by hand, showing a meticulous attention to detail while forming the gnocchi and stuffing mushroom caps with crabmeat. The restaurant?s alluringly generous menu washes down with an equally expansive wine list composed largely of Italian and Californian wines. Located in historic Federal Hill, Blue Grotto lovingly embraces guests in its pleasant setting, which boasts such comforting touches such as a fireplace and waiters who sing-speak in a gentle baritone.
