Phountain Health was founded on the theory that staying healthy involves balancing the body's pH levels. In addition to bottling pH-balancing alkaline water?avilable for demonstration and soon to be available via delivery?Phountain Health hosts infrared-sauna sessions, which aim to improve circulation and oust toxins, as do the spa's ionic detoxifying footbaths. The business' communal approach can also be seen in hot-yoga classes, where clients work out together rather than sit alone on the couch sipping battery acid.
It's not the typical tattoo and piercing shop. Heavy metal music isn't blasting. The clientele are lacking the stereotypical gruffness of tattoo-parlor clientele. And the walls are lined with hundreds of designs that visitors can spend hours perusing. Nobody gets the same ol' tattoo at Dakota Ink Tattoo. Every imprint is unique as a snowflake?even tattoos of snowflakes?as the staff works with clients to create original art for others to envy.
Headed up by Dr. Michael Torelli, SSFPA, Laser Division is populated by a staff of two physician's assistants and four certified aestheticians who put their skills to work performing a spectrum of noninvasive services, including laser hair removal, clinical peels, and Botox. Wielding aesthetic technologies such as the elōs fractional device, which combines bipolar radio frequency and rejuvenating blue-light energies, aestheticians target acne-causing bacteria and drain wrinkle batteries.
Fire Island has long been recognized as an ideal retreat from the bustle of city life. The spa that shares its name is no different, thanks to a team of salon artists and spa technicians offering a wide assortment of beautifying and relaxing services.
After changing into plush cotton robes, guests can lose themselves in the aromas of botanical fragrances and the sounds of soothing music as aestheticians administer exfoliating facials or therapists relax tension with targeted massage strokes. The spa’s cozy wooden attic also hosts body treatments that remove toxins, assuage muscular aches, and clean out sand stuck between toes and vestigial tentacles. In a salon area, stylists draw on their experience and modern fashion sensibilities to cut and color hair or remove unwanted fuzz with waxing treatments.
Tresses & Colours? stylists don?t just offer their clientele a standard array of color treatments, but rather a carefully curated selection of custom color and highlight combinations that change seasonally. Their winter 2013 collection, for example, includes signature colors such as cranberry red?which accentuates jet-back tresses with a splash of crimson ombre?and golden chestnut glow, which infuses hair with a radiant spectrum of bronze shades. Other services in the stylists? repertoire include keratin hair-smoothing treatments, waxing, makeup applications, and facials that help smooth and firm skin.
Female empowerment is part of the foundation at BeautyMark Spa. The staff works to improve women's self-confidence and quality of life with aesthetic services both traditional and technologically assisted. Trained aesthetician and laser technician, Susan L. Halbert not only boasts 20+ years of experience in the beauty industry, but also got her beauty know-how from Ross Burton, Oprah Winfrey's former professional makeup artist. Under the supervision of Dr. Lloyd D. Landsman MD PC, Halbert and her team arm themselves with Skinceuticals products to provide skincare treatments ranging from AHA chemical peels to microdermabrasion to white-tea-infused sunless spray tans and threading services.
The techs stay current by using a Syneron ELOS IPL laser to zap away sunspots, erase facial wrinkles, or tighten jowels and the neck. Though many services at BeautyMark Spa are geared toward women, men are always welcome to partake in the center's med-spa treatments.
