What’s your favorite part about your job?
My favorite part about my job is seeing clients happy with a tan because it makes them happy about themselves.
When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
I used to get airbrush tans, and I was always happy with the way it looked. It is also healthy for the skin, unlike tanning beds, which can cause cancer.
Is there anything else you want to add that we didn't cover?
We have certified male and female technicians to ensure everyone's comfort.
The artists at Dazzlin' Dezignz Salon & Spa are used to working on small canvases. They expertly decorate clients' nails with peacock prints, neon art-deco designs, and replicas of the Sistine Chapel ceiling. A crackling fireplace provides all the background music needed for a relaxing pedicure, held in one of the spa’s private rooms. In other rooms, clients relax during massages and hair-extension applications.
Using advanced Chromogenex i-Lipo lasers—which have been praised by The Doctors—the technicians at New Beginnings Body Sculpting reduce both fat and inches from clients’ forms. Four pads outfitted with a total of 32 low-level lasers are placed along sites of concern, such as thighs, upper arms, or water wings, where they spend the next 40 minutes prompting fat cells to release their impurities and triglycerides. The cell waste is then absorbed and burned off by the muscles. The office’s i-Lipo Ultra goes one step further to create firmer physiques: the device’s built-in vacuum and infrared laser help smooth out cellulite and boost collagen production.
At Sewickley Med Spa, highly trained medical professionals help patients to reclaim or maintain their youthful appearance with advanced aesthetic treatments. Dr. Thomas Michael has more than 25 years of experience and training in aesthetic medicine and currently serves as the medical director of Heritage Valley WoundCare. He worked for many years in the areas of hyperbaric oxygen therapy and emergency medicine, and he can therefore sing in perfect harmony with an ambulance siren.
Together with registered nurse and cosmetic-dermatology specialist Michele Altobello, Dr. Michael provides complimentary consultations for medical-grade skincare services including chemical peels, Botox, Dysport, and dermal fillers. The clinical team also enhances natural beauty with permanent makeup and addresses spider veins with sclerotherapy. The reception area of the private, discreet office is decorated with soothing violet tones and a potted orchid.
Through custom, comprehensive care, the experienced staffers at Michael's Hairloft Spa & Tanning can revitalize seasonally affected locks, brains, and skin tones. Resident stylists perk up tired color with ammonia-free organic color products ($65+ for a retouch) or remix looks from scratch, granting clients a whole new 'do ($100+ for a cut and color). For a relaxing retreat, the loft's licensed massage therapists deliver personalized strokes over the course of 60 slow-ticked minutes. Clients can step into one of the salon's eight Wolfe tanning beds to get their skin feeling sun-kissed without having to meet Mr. Golden's parents, or simply bask in a red light therapy session designed to heal blemishes, increase circulation, and extend colorful changes for weeks at a time. The loft keeps its airy space open six days a week, with closing hours as late as 9 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
