For years, stylist Rachel Adams fielded requests for quick appointments by clients who had ?somewhere to be.? Dismayed by this in-and-out approach to pampering, she decided her own salon should be designed as a tranquil space that clients would think of as a destination rather than a stop along the way. Today, at Somewhere To Be Salon, Rachel and her staff help clients to soak up some much-needed ?me? time with mani-pedis, haircut and color services, and 30-minute facials performed under the light of a small crystal chandelier. And because staffers know how hard it can be to pencil in quality time with friends, they offer a special Girls Night Out package for ladies to catch up and make prank phone calls while enjoying makeup, nail, and hairstyling services.
The Breeze Cinema 8 and The Ridge Cinema 8 may be independently owned, but they keep up with technological advances as well as any megaplex. Both theaters present the latest Hollywood blockbusters in crisp DLP-digital projection and resounding audio from Meyer Sound speakers. Select flicks are even rendered in RealD 3D, which sends heart-pounding car chases racing over the audience's stadium seats and lets Steven Spielberg's name gently graze your cheek.
The theaters have occasionally attracted big-name visitors in the flesh, including veteran Marcus Luttrell, the real-life model for Mark Wahlberg's character in Lone Survivor. It also occasionally plays special sing-along versions of family movies such as Frozen.
Soft, colored light beams out from beneath the elegant sushi bar at Mandarin Moon, where skilled sushi chefs prepare traditional and specialty rolls. Lobster tail, spicy tuna, and salmon inhabit the gleaming glass case alongside more unexpected ingredients, such as duck and grilled steak. Between mouthfuls of sushi and sashimi, diners at the dark-wood tables and chairs can feast on classic Thai dishes, Chinese food favorites, or the envy of guests who didn't order the crab rangoon.
American LubeFast proliferates the purring perfection of engines with diligent oil changes, greasing gas-gulpers with up to 5 quarts of Chevron motor oil and a new filter. Additional services aid in making the next road trip, grocery run, or demolition derby even smoother.
The surfing and skating savants at Innerlight spread outdoor sporting enthusiasm through a wide selection of lessons and beachside merchandise. Stand-up paddle boarding (SUP) synthesizes the buoyant balance of surfing and self-propulsion of canoeing to form a single aquatic super-sport. Led by an American Red Cross–certified instructor, the one-hour private lesson hones pupils with boardborne basics. Students learn stable-paddling techniques, ocean-safety skills, and how to read the tides for good conditions without reading goggles. SUP riders receive a paddle and a height- and weight-appropriate board for use during the lesson, with training wheels available upon request.
