Head instructor and Rising Star Theatre Arts Award recipient Dan Begin helps dancers of all ages and skill levels learn how to twirl, dip, and spin. Lessons for individuals and couples cover the basics of a variety of dance styles including tango, cha-cha, and salsa. In addition, Dance Unlimited offers wedding programs to help couples create memorable first dances that do not involve doing the worm in a wedding dress.

In their 85th season, the Harlem Globetrotters have entertained millions of parents, children, and general basketball admirers with a unique brand of athletic precision and showmanship. For their latest 4 Times the Fun North American tour, the Globetrotters will add new 4-point shot spots located 35 feet from the basket, which is 12 feet farther than the official 3-point line but several thousand miles closer than the prime meridian.

Snakes slither in glass display cases, and lizards wriggle in the hands of trained handlers as they're held up in full view of a curious crowd. This is the scene as one of Repticon's presenters educates attendees on the biology, behavior, and typing speeds of exotic cold-blooded creatures at one of the year-round shows held in cities across the country. Reptile and amphibian breeders, scholars, and handlers engage audiences in lectures and demonstrations in the midst of live reptile exhibits, family activities, and displays for exotic-pet supplies. Presentations may focus on the genetics of large snake species, the specifics of exotic-pet care, and the effect that tiny hats have on the image of arachnids such as tarantulas, scorpions, and spiders.

The bar’s trademark dueling pianos serve as the epicenter of these nightly celebrations; patrons submit their favorite songs on slips of paper for the pianists and backing musicians to recreate. If the website’s playlist is any indication, the bands can handle popular songs from all genres and eras, from Bon Jovi’s “Livin’ on a Prayer” to Kanye West’s “All of the Lights.” The performances are spirited: colorful lights splash upon a stage where servers, guests, and chairs that have somehow developed mobility all dance along to the music. On Sunday nights at the Fort Walton Beach location, a comedy show cranks up the revelry at 9 p.m. after the dueling pianos stop for a rest.

Fueling the celebration is the bar’s indulgent selection of drinks. The menu includes military specials and revelers grab colorful straws to help drain 32-ounce booze buckets filled with fruit-flavored rum or other fruity libations. Honey-infused whiskey sweeten specialty cocktails, and local beers add depth to coolers stocked with Stella Artois and Dos Equis.

Intent on creating a space for quality dance performances, apprentice dancers, and community art appreciation, Bernadette Clements Sims founded Northwest Florida Ballet in 1969. Over the next 40 years, the group recruited former student and acclaimed dancer Todd Eric Allen to serve as artistic director and moved into the 13,000-square-foot Sybil Smith Lebherz Center for Dance Education. In addition to pirouetting alongside the Atlantic Ballet and Miami City Ballet, Northwest Florida Ballet graces the stage with dance-driven versions of classic literature, student concerts, and famous Stanley Cup championships. Ballet, hip-hop, and jazz dance classes allow novice danseurs and danseuses their own stage time, and Northwest Florida Ballet's Académie, aimed at third through eighth graders, combines academic lessons from certified elementary teachers with artistic training from ballet pros. Before practicing choreographed prancing, students can stock up on dancewear at Northwest Florida Ballet's boutique.
