Salon O's stylists transcend barbershop banality, sculpting fashionable 'dos from the comfort of their coffeehouse-like digs. Salon O crafts conventional coiffures with its signature haircut and color combinations. After sculpting locks into an eye-pleasing shape, an experienced stylist applies partial or full highlights, a color re-touch, or Tocco Italian color. The entire process lasts up to 90 minutes, but extra time should be allotted for returning the admiring gazes of construction workers, bus drivers, and toy poodles.
Before founding Indigo Massage and Healing Center, Joe and Charity pursued virtually every interest they could, traveling across the globe to explore potential passions. Joe worked odd jobs and honed his interpersonal awareness as a nurses’ assistant and life coach, and Charity devoted herself to helping start a rainforest preserve in Costa Rica and volunteering at a Moroccan orphanage. Both their paths, however, eventually converged on their mutual passion: massage. Together, the couple boasts 500-hour certifications and endless additional training, and along with a team of doctors and bodywork experts, they work on issues ranging from muscle pain to overactive skeletons. Beyond the suite of wellness services, which includes acupuncture, homeopathic medicine, and yoga classes, the center offers mental counseling to ensure its clients’ holistic health.
In a way, it makes perfect sense that Lori Saleem, the owner of Shear Bliss Salon, has a background in organic gardening and culinary arts. When the Cornell grad took up cosmetology, she drew on her previous studies to create a full range of organic, botanical, and fruit-based beauty treatments. At Shear Bliss, Lori and her team offer fruit peels for dry skin, facials infused with botanical extracts, and spa pedicures bolstered by healing herbs. They also incorporate botanics and aromatherapy into organic coloring and all-natural keratin treatments.
As cavernous as a warehouse yet reminiscent of a quaint cabin, BruHill Spa'lon utilizes abundant space, wood ceilings and pillars, and exposed-brick walls to remind guests they are not in a typical salon. Intricate arches are built into the brick walls above the windows, which is really just the wall frowning as clients get all the attention. Where normally one would see unflattering fluorescent lights, clients see chandeliers hanging down and radiating a pleasant yellowish-white light. In that pool of photons, the full-service salon's staff gets to work. They perform nail services, including Shellac and Gelish applications, and gussy up hair with cuts. BruHill also employs a full-service men's barber.
Growing up, Southern Sun-Sations's owner, Virginia, always enjoyed being outside and absorbing the warmth of the sun. That's why, once she was older, she decided that the tanning industry provided a natural path to follow her passion. Since 2003, Virginia's been helping people enjoy the sun's warmth and tan-imbuing rays at Southern Sun-Sations. The indoor sun-salon supplements its different levels of UV-tanning beds with Mystic Tan booths, which coat bodies with sun-kissed color without UV rays and awkward first dates with the sun.
Highly trained aestheticians, nail artists, and stylists staff Shananigin's Salon & Spa, a new addition to the local pampering scene. They take pride in treating bodies with premium products, such as Pevonia, a natural skincare line. They extend this same attention to quality to their services, adding soothing mini massages to their spa manicures and filling blow dryers with hot air imported from Tahiti.
