With their LightSheer diode laser and Palomar IPL system, the specialists at The Medispa at Shrewsbury can fix almost any skin issue clients throw their way. The devices release focused bursts of energy that, when adjusted to suit the client’s skin type, can zap away unwanted hairs, erase tattoos, or lighten blemishes such as leg veins and acne scars. Meanwhile, Dr. Steven Davis—a board-certified plastic surgeon who was featured on The Doctors—works with his staff to combat wrinkles and fine lines with injectables such as Botox and Restylane. To help clients navigate the spa’s service menu and complex system of lava streams, complimentary consultations divulge facts about potential treatment options to ensure informed decision making.
Co-founders Jen Dafeldecker and Lisa Manger worked together for years at a larger spa, waiting for the day when they could run things their way. At JennaLis, they combine their talents for massage and aesthetics to deliver exemplary spa services in an intimate upscale spa. Dafeldecker's specialities include trigger-point release and neuromuscular therapy, while Manger delivers Phytomer facials with detoxifying warm mud, microderabrasions, and PCA chemical peels.
After a sterling two-decade career as a board-certified internist and gastroenterologist, Dr. Ramon Suatengco needed a fresh way to make a difference in the lives of his patients. After realizing the power inherent in blending his medical expertise with an artist's eye for detail, he founded The Radiance, A Medical Spa, where he and his team blend clinical education with modern technology to accomplish revitalizing beauty treatments. The Lipo-Ex, a highlight of their repertoire, can help clients lose up to three sizes after eight weeks of treatment. It’s a non-invasive procedure using radio frequency energy to break down fatty tissue beneath the skin, which then leaves the body via the lymphatic system’s natural processes, leaving behind slimmer physiques that help patients take the first step toward healthier lifestyles. This dedication to life-changing therapies is just par for the course for Dr. Suatengco; when he's not busy treating patients or staying involved with the New Jersey Medical Society, he can often be found giving back to the community through numerous philanthropies and serving as the president and chairman of the Filipino-American Community Development Center.
When guests enter Color Bar 51, they’ll invariably hear the buzz of blow-dryers and the snipping of scissors echoing through the shop. At the salon, a team of highly educated stylists bring more than 50 combined years to the cutting floor. Each stylist and colorist is sorted into one of four levels based on their skills and number of years in the industry. In the back, they’d find colorists hand blending ammonia-free glazes and permanent dyes. At individual stations, guests can recline in black chairs while stylists transform their hair with face-framing highlights and keratin smoothing treatments. Guests get a complimentary consultation before any hair services so that the stylist can assess their face shapes and features along with lifestyle habits to determine hairstyles that not only will compliment the guests’ physical appearances but also their active daily lives.
The Enchanted Cottage is aptly named—it’s the kind of place that Goldilocks might stumble upon when trolling through the forest, looking for foodstuffs to steal. If she ever showed up here, she’d be in luck, because complimentary homemade breads, cookies, mozzarella, and herbal tea are offered to all who enter.
The signature massage tones the face by releasing facial tension and contractions that build up over time and eventually inspire wrinkles. The treatment’s toning benefits increase with multiple sessions, each of which includes soothing hot towels for the hands and feet. Alongside the face-lift massage, the Enchanted Cottage offers Swedish, deep-tissue, hot-stone, and reflexology massage services to relieve tension in backs, necks, shoulders, and feet.
On their way out, clients can purchase all-natural, handmade skincare products by Mary Fairy Angels—including the Angel face cream used in the face-lift massage—or they can pick up a jar of raw, locally made honey.

Upon discovering her talent for massage, Amy Richardson earned her license and set up shop in a little nook within a yoga studio. She selected this location because she believes that both yoga and massage therapy restore balance and anchor you in the present moment more effectively than steel boots. The sultry scent of nag champa permeates the space along with the soothing sounds of nature and wind chimes. Amy kneads muscles with all-natural grape-seed, jojoba, and coconut oils, and can enhance these oils with aromatherapy calibrated to individual emotional needs, physiological issues, or favorite scratch-and-sniff stickers. Though she specializes in Swedish and lomilomi massages, Amy customizes each session to the individual. Her favorite part of the job is seeing the smiles on people’s faces after they leave her enclave—Amy particularly cherishes the memory of a beefy trucker who’d grudgingly come to a session at the behest of his girlfriend and left saying he felt “like a butterfly.”
