Notes of relaxing music float through the air within the warm and welcoming private rooms of Massage Retreat & Spa, mingling sometimes with the rhythmic tapping of fingers across sore muscles or the silence of relaxation. While the spa?s massage therapists melt away aches and pains with smooth Swedish strokes, warm stones, or liquid-hot magma, their aesthetician counterparts indulge complexions with cleansing facials, waxing sessions, and treatments for eyebrows and eyelashes.
Though their menu of available sessions can seem overwhelming at first, the spa?s staff takes the time to tailor each treatment to clients? individual needs; a health questionnaire and customer profile?required of first-time visitors?assists their efforts to pinpoint your unique ailments and concerns. An online Health Resource Center similarly typifies their uncommon dedication to individual care with its trove of helpful health and lifestyle tips with massage therapists and skincare specialists.
The trainers at Art of Strength eschew newfangled machines. Instead, they employ only fitness tools that have stood the test of time: weight balls, ropes, logs, sandbags, and boxes. Ropes use the weight of the human body to build strength, and the relentless swing of kettlebells works the body as a whole and torches calories. Weights clatter beneath hanging rings and inspirational quotes chalked on the walls. Bass thuds and happy grunts fill the studio as patrons flip truck tires or leap onto boxes. The old-school equipment forms the core of classes, which leave patrons as strong as ancient warriors or the guys who had to push ancient warriors’ strollers.
Though Perfect Ten Nail Salon’s technicians have no problem looking guests in the eye and greeting them with a warm smile, their attention quickly wanders to hands and feet as they set to work trimming, primping, and polishing nails. The experienced technicians keep acrylic and Shellac polishes close by their manicure stations, making use of the colorful bottles when the time comes to embellish nails with colorful portraits of their wearers. Manicures and pedicures also tend to skincare needs with flourishes such as oil rinses, foot massages, and soothing paraffin treatments.
Laura Buske, a resident stylist at Zina’s Salon, brings more than a decade of chic styling know-how to her litany of tress-taming services. Upon arrival, clients can opt for a complimentary consultation with Laura, where she’ll map a follicular battle plan and rid noggins of any precariously balancing dictionaries. Laura deftly snips away superfluous locks before elegantly rearranging the enduring strands into a modish, dependable style. Newly trimmed tresses flourish during a deep-conditioning treatment, which douses arid manes in fortifying moisture to repair damaged strands and endow the silken shimmer of a newborn wookie. Alternatively, guests can opt for a basic coloring treatment, choosing from a coterie of vivid shades to suit their new style. Each service lasts around 60 minutes, and may conclude with a short styling lesson from Laura that allows patrons to re-create the same look from their home, office, or chamber of mirrors.

When and how did you first develop a passion for your work?
I've always been interested in skincare. I have a six-year degree in chemistry, and because esthiology required a lot of scientific knowledge, I decided to combine them. I started my skincare business in 1995.
Out of your entire repertoire, which is your favorite service to perform and why?
My favorite service to perform is custom essential facial, because I can approach each customer personally and perform the best service according their needs.
What is the best reaction you?ve ever gotten from a client?
One of my clients of 19 years referred her best friend to try my services recently. After the appointment was completed, she said that she would yell at my client for not referring her much earlier.
Intense pulsed light. Ultrasound. Salicylic acid. These aren’t just terms you’d find in a science textbook; they’re also elements that SkinOvation MedSpa’s licensed aestheticians use to bring out skin’s beauty. With waves of intense pulsed light, for instance, they can permanently eradicate unwanted hair on the face, bikini line, or underarms, or gradually diminish signs of aging during photofacials. They also restore youthfulness to skin with salicylic, lactic, or glycolic chemical peels, or wield a microdermabrasion wand to buff away dead cells and notes-to-self scrawled on your forehead. The center’s multifunctional ultrasonic treatment speeds up blood circulation and stimulates the nerve system, resulting in improved skin texture and color.
