MagicBus began as a tour company, taking large, pre-booked groups into wild Alberta for ski tours. But the longer the guides ran their route, the more they heard that individual skiers wanted the same ease of transportation large groups were getting. Since they were already using their buses on those in-demand routes, they decided to open their reservations up for individual skiers, opening up a brand new way for singles and small groups to hit the slopes and make short-lasting snow angels. Today MagicBus run groups of just about every size to Marmot Basin and Lake Louise. There are also package deals for individuals: the MagicBus Boarding Pass, for instance, gives passengers two-way transportation to either ski resort, plus a full-day lift ticket including all fees and taxes along with a free bottle of water. With all the runs they do to each location, the company now ferries more than 7,000 skiers annually.

Guitar, drums, piano, and vocals; recording, composition, and performing; musical theater, reggae, and classical. Somehow, Justin and Megan McDonough have studied it all and still have the energy to share their passions with others as studio manager and school manager at Resonate. In addition to lessons for students as young as age three in popular instruments such as violin and guitar, Resonate’s instructors forge musicians ready to make a splash in the modern music industry with sessions in topics such as music theory, digital production, and audio engineering. The latter can be put into practice in a recording studio, where full-semester students get an hour of free time to put together a polished recording. The artists supplement musician-aimed lessons and resources with harmonic services for hire—producing ad jingles and voiceovers, composing original songs, and humming lullabies to squalling babies.

Members at Curves, a fitness center designed exclusively for women, rotate around a circuit of hydraulic resistance machines that have been designed to work with female bodies and promote weight loss, protect against osteoporosis, and deal with arthritis. An experienced trainer is always nearby to help manage participants’ machine manoeuvering and muscle making. Instead of fiddling with weight stacks and losing momentum, the hydraulic machines use your own body weight, fitness level, and aerodynamic water bottle to create resistance that matches abilities, decreasing the risk of soreness or injury. Because traditional lift-and-lower motions create bulky muscles, each machine uses push-and-pull motions to create toned, lean muscles perfect for crushing a grapefruit without looking like you can.

Run by designer Jenna Herbut and her brother Chandler, also a designer, the fairs showcase the work of more than 250 Canadian artisans and designers at events Merge magazine has described as "the craft sale for the next generation." The laid-back emporium?that has received tons of positive press?thrums with the energy of desingers such as Sugar + Candy, Faye Tality Couture, and Prickly Potter Ceramics as they enthusiastically promote their wares. Music serenades ears wandering between booths, and homemade creations from vendors such as My Chocolate Tree sate hunger with snacks that are as sweet and savoury as a love poem written in worcestershire sauce. As an extension of her mission to improve designers' livelihoods, Jenna channels her background in marketing into a parallel venture Make It! University, which helps artisans hone their business models.
