Sheltered by a magnificent castle wall adorned with flower garlands and feathery chandeliers, The Royal Fairytale enchants little ones with indulgent events led by a cast of fairies and princesses. Tea-time soirees first outfit each young damsel in a glittery gown, tiara, and glamorous hairstyle to prepare them for story time with a royal. A successive helping of tea completes the imperial extravaganza and soothes throats sore from singing to pigeons. Robes envelop attendees during Sassy spa events, where girls get gussied up with nail painting, hairstyling, and a yogurt facial while playing games and sampling snacks. Additionally, create-your-own stations invite petites to craft custom spa bubbles and lotions to take home. Cushy slippers make for easy move-busting at dance-filled PJ parties, fueled by snacks and allotting time for youngsters to create their own stuffed animals out of provided materials or a few magic fava beans.
Sponsored by the San Diego Army Advisory Council, the Community Salute to Heroes 5K Crossfit Race celebrates and benefits American do-gooders including first responders and military families. The race begins at Grossmont High School, with heats taking off from the starting line at 15-minute intervals. As runners navigate the 5K course, Army representatives will greet them at the end of each kilometer with optional CrossFit exercises. Because the CrossFit stations are optional and most people can’t read military time, runners will not be timed.
As the runners make their way toward the finish line, the festivities continue around them. The mayor of El Cajon will oversee proceedings as the master of ceremonies, and a two-star general will be on hand to swear in more than 100 future soldiers. Spectators can take in musical performances by the Heroes throughout the day, or send little ones to the Kiddy Corner for bounce-house sessions and other activities.
The instructors of Practical Defense Systems draw upon their real-world experience in law enforcement and personal security—as well as extensive martial-arts training—to teach everyday citizens how to protect themselves. Maintaining good standing with organizations such as the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association, defense experts lead shooting classes that range from the Basic Pistol workshop to advanced shooting during low-light conditions. They also tailor lessons to individual marksmen during private lessons. Additionally, instructors teach clients self-defense using only a golden paperclip, security-guard protocol, and CPR, first-aid, and emergency preparedness

When golfing legend Gary Player designed Steele Canyon Golf Club, he did so in a manner that both respected and showcased the region's natural beauty and terrain. Gary divvied the 27-hole championship course into a trio of nine-hole courses, each presenting golfers with different challenges and vistas.
Located on the Ranch Course, the signature hole, "Parachute," has players tee off from more than 175 feet above the fairway. Not to be outdone, the Canyon Course features some lofty shots of its own. Hole four, for instance, challenges players with a sloping two-tiered green, but earned the nickname "Goosebumps" for its panoramic view of the canyons.
