On any given weekend, photographers Triston and Darla could be making a session of almost anything, whether it's a smiling family, a 90th birthday party, or a famous musician destroying a famous tube amp. This breadth of experience feeds into the pair's portfolio, where striking portraits are shot against urban rivers and the junctions of railroad tracks. Their journalistic style becomes most important on wedding shoots, as the shot-snappers maneuver to capture cake cuts, dances, and the DJ's anguish at having irreparably scratched his Baha Men CD.
When Lori Shannon first announced her intent to run a marathon, people responded with more than a hint of incredulity. Lori had no experience and, at 5’3” and a size 16, she didn’t cut the form of a typical distance runner. Even so, she set to work and completed the 1993 New York City Marathon, proving to herself that with the proper training and dedication, she need not live life as a spectator. Since crossing that first finish line, Lori has never looked back; she has since run multiple marathons, competed in triathlons, and ridden her bike cross-country.
Seven years later, Lori founded See Jane Run in San Francisco, hoping to empower women to test their limitations and bolster their own fitness and self-confidence. The female-operated fitness company has since grown to encompass four West Coast locations that sell women’s running gear, including shoes, sports bras, and aerodynamic shower caps. At its four retail locations, like-minded runners come together with free weekly run clubs, giving them a group setting in which to train to meet their own individual goals or prepare for one of See Jane Run’s half marathons or 5Ks.

The trained technicians are adept at ironing out the problems facing the aging media they’re transferring, clearing away the darkened grime and wrinkle marks from old photos and editing out record imperfections such as scratch marks and backward messages of your mom telling you to clean your room. The transferred CDs and DVDs come encased with their own personalized label, allowing clients to easily find the pictures while minimizing the space needed for storage.
Master photographer Trey Allen boasts a resumé of national awards and the experience of snapping shutters for nearly 30 years. He brings that expertise to portrait sessions that frame subjects with copiously colored and styled studio backgrounds or five acres of gardens, wildflower fields, and stone patios along the Little Arkansas River—though he can also travel to a more personally significant destination, such as the site where a couple shared their first meatball sub. Trey readies subjects for each shoot with extensive online tips for session preparation, and reveals the fruits of each shoot at a proofing session as early as the next day. From there, patrons determine which shots are worthy of graduating to one of Trey's prints or digital-image CDs prepped in-studio by his highly knowledgeable staff within a month after the shoot.
Husband-and-wife photography team Christina and Aaron Patton established Boudoir by Wallflower, a studio dedicated almost exclusively to boudoir photography, to capture the beauty in women of all shapes and sizes. In an op-ed for WomensFocus, the Pattons described boudoir as "about building confidence and discovering a side of yourself that you have either forgotten, never knew existed, or just don't let out enough." During shoots, the photographers provide their subjects with 12 different sets and a collection of more than 500 garments, including lingerie, shoes, and peep-toe tube socks.
