Doctor of Chiropractic Dan Diep was at his wits’ end. After suffering from scoliosis, poor posture, and frequent back pain growing up, Dr. Diep thought his problems would fade anyway; but in college, picking up a heavy backpack sent shooting pains down a leg. At the suggestion of a friend, he visited a chiropractor and yielded amazing results with simple adjustments. He decided his calling in life was to become a chiropractor and help others in pain—and he hasn’t looked back.
The other chiropractors that work with Dr. Diep also understand their patients’ pain firsthand: one suffered migraines and backaches and another suffered from traumatic injuries following a car wreck before being healed by chiropractic care. They all aim to pay it forward with posture and thermal nerve scans that root out problems and low-force adjustment techniques that fix them.
Keeping with DSC Laser and Skin Care Center's motto of ?wellness with beauty and grace," Dr. Tony Shum leads a specialized team of medical technicians and image coaches who refine clients with skin-smoothing treatments, weight-loss programs, and etiquette classes. Inside the center?s spacious two-story building, the staff blot out blemishes with IPL lasers and other noninvasive treatments, including diamond-peel dermabrasion and Botox, using 3-D skin analysis to customize sessions and create sentient screen savers. The staff also hold monthly seminars on wellness and social graces, and primp the airwaves with a beauty-focused radio show on KMRB Chinese Cantonese Radio.

Listed in Southern California's Super Doctors, Fresh Face Med Spa and its staff of certified professionals, including a licensed aesthetician, a registered nurse, and the 2007 Chief of Staff at Methodist Hospital of Southern California, resuscitates weary faces with personalized skincare services. The 30-minute express SilkPeel provides microdermabrasion without exposure to aluminum oxide crystals. Diamond-tipped dermalinfusion exfoliates, stimulates, and hydrates skin to help with acne, wrinkles, melty face, and sun damage. The 60-minute procedure combines the peel with deep cleansing, a preparatory gentle peel, facial massage, and finishing mask. Both treatments include Visia Skin Analysis, which uses a computer program to unearth damage unseen by the unclothed eye. Clients come face-to-own-face with covert wrinkles, pores, bacteria, and UV spots fueled by overexposure to the sun and living inside a volcano. Based on the results of the analysis, Fresh Face professionals will recommend treatment, answer questions, and sign a copy as a souvenir.

With more than 2,000 years of history behind it, tae kwon do merges traits of karate and kung fu into a form of combat often characterized by its white uniforms, powerful strikes, and devastating kicks. Although Master Michael Han of Best US Tae Kwon Do Academy Martial Arts Center trains his students how to execute these moves, he believes tae kwon do is ultimately predicated on the desire for peace. To that end, he fosters a community that promotes self-discipline, respect, and confidence.
In addition to traditional tae kwon do, Master Han teaches classes in two other Korean combat styles: hap ki do and tang soo do. The former is characterized by its strong joint locks and use of weapons such as staffs, nunchucks, and barbed insults; in the latter, practitioners dole out self-defense techniques with empty hands and bare feet.
