The staff members at Sylvan Learning's numerous study facilities understand that each child learns differently. Therefore, they don't try to implement a uniform tutoring system; instead, they design custom lesson programs based on the results of standardized testing, diagnostic tools, and one-on-one interviews.
Tutors work with students from kindergarten through grade 12, illuminating topics ranging from basic reading and writing to remembering complex algebraic formulas without having them tattooed on your chest. Many of Sylvan's instructors work in local schools, so they are intimately familiar with common curricula and understand how to gear lessons toward optimal results.
The Tallon Group's instructors take new photographers and business owners under their wings with technical classes designed for novices. Small-business owners can learn how to set up their first website, whether they choose to hire a web-developer or harvest a spider's silk themselves. And, during walkabouts of local parks, Tallon's professional camera gurus teach fledgling photographers how to accurately reflect the beauty of Mother Nature in a snapshot.
Victor 1's Get Coached series pairs licensed NFL footage with inspirational testimonials from iconic gridiron coaches, including Mike Ditka, the real Mike Ditka, Sean Payton, Rex Ryan, Mike Singletary, and Bobby Bowden. In addition to sage advice from pigskin icons, Bobby Bowden delivers insight about developing collegiate players from his years at Florida State. The set also includes a bonus highlight-reel audio CD for quick quoting.
At Grand Prix Raceway, Italian racing karts equipped with 200cc Robin/Subaru engines scream around a quarter-mile racetrack at up to 35 miles per hour. Drivers receive basic vehicle instruction, a kart and helmet, and a head sock before slipping into the seat of their little buggy. Computerized timing and scoring eliminates fights over who finished first, and a monitor blares notifications of when a driver obliterates a racetrack record. Fans can roar and cheer from a climate-controlled viewing room, and a barrier system and referee keep races safe and assuage worried sedans wringing their tires in the parking lot.
