The annual International Great Beer Expo
assembles more than 50 breweries from around the world at Long Island's Belmont Park Racetrack. Every attendee through the gates gets a 5-ounce souvenir tasting glass, which they can fill and refill with 2-ounce samples from any exhibiting brewery. Beers truly hail from all corners of the world, including Lebanon, Indonesia, Nicaragua, and New Zealand, in addition to places famed for their brews such as Ireland, Belgium, and Germany. But the event isn't all fun and games of bags; a portion of the proceeds benefits the Beer for Brains Foundation, which brings craft-beer lovers together to help find a cure for brain cancer.
Ranked among Ticketmaster's Top 25 Most Requested Family Events for five consecutive years, UniverSoul Circus grants an interactive spectacle of acrobatic stunts, dance, and comedy set to popular urban sounds. With its swirling lights and pulsing beats, the circus's resemblance to a blowout concert tour is no accident: production designer Tom Marzullo has created internationally touring stage shows for Justin Bieber, Jay-Z, and Prince.
As hosts, a troupe of improv comics slip laughs in between the gasps and draw the crowd even closer into the action. Meanwhile, the production makes jaws drop farther with trained elephants, illusions featuring a live tiger, a head-balancing act from Vietnam, and female contortionists from Ethiopia. These make up just a few of the globally sourced performers, others of whom hail from locales as diverse as Colombia, South Africa, Russia, and Trinidad and Tobago.

The Queensborough Performing Arts Center’s intimate 875-seat unites generations ranging from X to Y with the adhesive properties of live music. After three Grammy awards and multiple gold records, Blood Sweat & Tears continues to exasperate cleanup crews by leaving it all on the stage with hits such as “God Bless the Child” and “Spinning Wheel.” "Yesterday: A Tribute to the Beatles" recreates historic performances from 1964 to 1974 in two acts that focus on the Fab Four’s mop-top and psychedelic eras, adding in vintage film footage and stage banter laced with Liverpudlian lingo. The bright lights of the Strip shine on the Motor City in "Las Vegas Tribute to Motown", which includes hits from The Supremes and The Temptations, and "The Official Blues Brothers Revue" cools down audiences with a flurry of blues jams straight from the Windy City. "Spencers: Theatre of Illusion" takes place on Mother's Day and lets eyes in on the fun with a heart-stopping series of stage artistry that combines drama, comedy, and magic tricks straight from the pages of Houdini’s disappearing-ink diary.
At offices in Great Neck and Floral Park, Dr. Lauren Schwartz leads a podiatric team that’s been keeping feet and ankles healthy for about 20 years. The office addresses general podiatry care for bunions, fractures, heel pain, neuromas, orthotics and diabetic foot care; patients can also opt for a bit of pampering: specially designed sterile pedicures keep toes relaxed and looking their best, and sterile manicures do the same for fingers. The foot facial gets skin ready for open-toed shoes and glass slippers.
At Movie World Cinemas, a recently added caf? draws in early arrivers with pizza, chicken tenders, fries and fresh cappuccinos. Patrons can linger there before heading to one of seven handsome screening chambers with projection capacity for traditional film and 3-D movies. Once inside, guests recline on shiny, new seats styled by Mobiliario Seating. Each throne includes cushy upholstery, a built-in cup holder, and ergonomically engineered lumbar support. Newly installed digital projectors show crystal-clear images while digital surround-sound speakers shake seats with the screeches of onscreen car chases and the weeping of James Bond?s dry cleaner. In the large main lobby, the digital burble of a small arcade stirs air scented heavily by sunshine-hued popcorn. The staff has spent the past few years working on a series of updates and improvements, and the movie palace regularly hosts special events and children?s parties.
