In a renovated, three-story Victorian-style mansion originally built at the turn of the century, Sanctuary Hair Salon & Day Spa’s team of experienced technicians remodels phalanges, trims coiffures, and performs massage therapy, among other services, all of which may incorporate high-end Dermalogica products. In addition to cutting and colorizing locks, Sanctuary’s staffers can apply permanent waves, Jheri curls, or straightening treatments that do not involve weighing tresses down with specially warped dictionaries. Both extensions and weaves can add to strands’ length, thereby drawing attention to the face, which staffers might decorate during makeup applications or lessons. Sanctuary’s hydrating facials diminish dryness, breakouts, and uneven tone. Sanctuary Hair Salon & Day Spa's owner, Michael G. Perry, brings 20 years of experience to the table, and he pays homage to the turn-of-the-century—the twenty-second century—aesthetic of the mansion by maintaining natural wood floors, white sconces, and tea lights. Perry also chooses not to ignore the aural senses by playing soft music and treating guests to the sound of trickling water.
After owning and operating salons and spas in Mercer County for more than 25 years, stylist Robert Cacciabaudo—whose looks have graced the pages of Glamour, Elle, and Philadelphia magazines—envisioned a tranquil beauty oasis where customers could enjoy cutting-edge hair services and relaxing spa services under one roof. His dream became a reality in 2002: On the first floor of a renovated, two-story building outfitted with elegant French-country décor, a hair salon blends classic style with the latest beauty trends and technologies. On the second floor, private treatment rooms host nail services, waxing, massages, Dermalogica facials, and Mac makeup applications.
When Michelle Parkes opened Core Salon & Spa, she didn't want just another cookie-cutter business. After spending two years as a national educator for Paul Brown Hawaii and 25 years working for other owners, she decided she wanted to do a salon her way. Her way was to surround herself with an unparalleled group of stylists, support staff, and a moat to guard against invading paparazzi. The end result was Core Salon & Spa, a beauty center manned by skilled stylists that use quality products from brands such as Yon-Ka, L'Oreal Professionnel, and Kevin Murphy.
Massage therapists, fitness instructors, and nutritional consultants join forces at Pocono Body Wellness Studio to promote holistic health in all its forms. Therapists destress musculature with acupuncture and numerous massage modalities as instructors lead fitness classes such as yoga, Pilates, and cycling. Elsewhere in the studio, dietitians devise custom nutrition regimens, and resident aestheticians further enhance bodies with facials, waxes, and mani-pedis. The diverse staff makes frequent contributions to charities, donating 5% of the proceeds of every massage package they book to a children's hospital in Philadelphia.
