After beginning to adopt more environmentally conscious practices in their personal lives, hairstylists Joy and Jeremy realized how hard the salon atmosphere could be on Mother Nature and set out to open their own eco-friendly salon. Their salon's open floor plan, organized into chic styling stations and suffused in natural light from numerous surrounding windows, highlights bright modern salon furniture, all of which is reused. In addition to the décor, their green reach expands to the salon's all-natural styling products and energy-efficient, retractable blow dryers, which dangle from the ceiling like a paratrooper after a poorly executed landing. Their resident aestheticians, nail techs, and massage therapists dole out the salon's expansive menu of services, pampering clients with custom facials, head-to-toe waxing treatments, and relaxing mani-pedis.
For more than two decades, Liz Ehrichs has spent her days revamping hair with shades that not only suit her clients’ taste and draw attention from onlookers but also look natural. Stationed amid Salon Denver’s rustic brick walls and golden hardwood floors, she paints tresses with Framesi products to create style-accentuating highlights or all-over chestnut, blond, or auburn hues. Liz also focuses on color correction, fixing strands that were dyed by less adept salons or the neighborhood’s paintball league.
Fluff* Bar, whose opening was recently profiled by Denver Westword, brings together talented stylists and mixologists to pamper patrons with upscale salon services and expertly crafted libations. Los Angeles celebrity stylist Britt Chambers was inspired to meld a salon and bar by her experiences primping stars for red-carpet events such as the Oscars in LA, according to The Denver Post. The resulting Fluff* Bar is lined with creamy white surfaces, ivory leather, and chandeliers dripping with crystal, designed to evoke the inside of a jewelry box. Within the salon, shears snip locks into precision cuts, deft hands craft close up-ready coifs, and a makeup artist uses experience with countless celebrities to perfectly primp faces.
The full-service bar's roster of bacchanalian beverages includes wine and champagne offerings assembled by a master sommelier, lavishing tongues with specialty champagne cocktails, mixed drinks, and more than 25 wines. Throughout the day, a sumptuous congregation of teas and coffee also offer eye-opening sips.
Behind their salon chairs, the stylists at 3rd Avenue Studio cut, color, and deep condition their clients' manes with Bumble and Bumble, Paul Mitchell, and Kevin Murphy products. They also re-texturize hair with thermal straightening, Brazilian blowouts, and relaxers. Away from the salon floor, nail technicians pamper clients with manicures and pedicures enhanced with chip-resistant shellac polishes. Additional treatments include therapeutic facials and 30 to 90-minute massages.
In the afternoon, Shamsi Salon fills with sunlight from the wide windows that overlook local rooftops. The beams travel across warm wooden floorboards until they hit a tiled mosaic that decorates the front lobby. Beyond the reception desk, staffers take their time trimming, styling, and coloring hair while chatting with their regular clients. The crew also carefully prunes unwanted body fuzz or dandelions blossoms using the ancient Persian technique of threading.
Cranberry walls surround the styling area at Lacey Nichole Hair Design, where three passionate experts cut, color, and arrange strands into personalized styles for each client. Prior to each cut, the team members hold individual consultations to discuss cutting and coloring techniques performed with Biolage, Pureology, and Paul Mitchell products. Founder Lacey Nichole, who graduated from cosmetology school magna cum laude, continues to follow advanced courses to stay ahead of new trends in the hair industry. With her signature "shattered ends" cutting technique, Lacey creates styles with jagged edges to add texture, movement, and versatility. She fearlessly explores new techniques while also crafting classic styles that complement vintage outfits and fit right in at pro-temperance conventions.
