Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie’s founder and CEO, Alicia Vargo, strives to nurture the female spirit by instilling confidence through properly fitted undergarments, loungewear, and swimsuits that are comfortable and make women feel beautiful. After a bad experience at a national lingerie chain, Alicia shifted her focus in 2001 to creating a warm and welcoming website where ladies of any shape and size could discover sexy, flirty, and fun lingerie. Two years later, the first Pampered Passions Fine Lingerie store set up shop with racks of international lingerie, intimate apparel, and friendly staffers who offered complimentary custom bra fittings. Now, a decade later, Alicia has garnered the Denver Business Journal’s Outstanding Women in Business Award as she and her knowledgeable staff continue to outfit women with designer lingerie and apparel from Chantelle, Claire Pettibone, and Axami.
Aiming to nurture women further, Alicia provides special services to postmastectomy patients that include fittings by certified mastectomy-bra fitters as well as retailing mastectomy-centric lingerie and sewing pockets into most apparel available at the store. As a self-proclaimed feel-good junkie, Alicia also supports the battle against breast cancer through the founding of the Breast Cancer Pirates support group, which partners with the Highlands Ranch Community Association to raise money through their annual fashion show, and by donating time and money to Dress for Success.
For over 30 years, 3 Day Blinds' technicians have sift through samples and unreel measuring tapes during in-home consultations, custom-fitting abodes with blinds, shutters, and shades. They handcraft and cut treatments such as faux wood blinds, vertical blinds, and flexcell honeycomb blinds that reduce light and are energy efficient. As they tailor-make each order, the staffers dress windows of all shapes and sizes, from an arch above a doorway to a misshapen wormhole in the attic. All of 3 Day Blinds’ products come with a limited lifetime warranty. After clients have made a selection, the team shows up just two days later to install the new window dressings or let customers do it themselves.
In business for 19 years, Ali's Closet Consignment Boutique's varied stock spruces up ladies' wardrobes with preloved apparel sizes 0-12 and accessories from renowned designers such as Nanette Lepore, Gucci, and Marc Jacobs. To ensure garments are in top condition, the shop's particular staff only accepts clothing that is brought in on hangers, cleaned, pressed, and free of mannequin stalkers. Connecting with its community, Ali's Closet donates a portion of their proceeds to local nonprofits every third Friday of the month.
The trip from the forest to the living room is a short one thanks to Tree Land Christmas Trees. This company imports its Noble Fir, Grand Fir, and Frasier Fir trees straight from North Carolina and Oregon, and within days of being harvested they end up poised in one of 10 lots scattered throughout the area. Tree Land Christmas Trees sees the act of picking out a tree as a ritual as much as a purchase, and so they welcome families to stroll through their lots, inhale the fresh smells, and pick out the tree that will decorate their home for the duration of the holiday season. The helpful staff will even tie the tree to customers' vehicles or schedule deliveries for customers whose cars or bike baskets can't accommodate the tree.
In the spirit of the holidays, Tree Land Christmas Trees also makes it a point to donate trees to families in need.
With more than eight years of experience splattered on its palette, Creative Spirits continues to teach people of all ages how to tap into their creative energies and create artwork through a variety of media. Even without previous experience, pupils will employ five basic elements of shape. The result is an enjoyment of process of creating without feeling lost or confused and can improve self-confidence while remaining as focused as a cat that’s ready to pounce on a laser-pointer dot.
Also at Creative Spirits' spacious studio, friendly instructors lead groups in painting, glass fusing, and using a pottery wheel during casual parties. These laid-back sessions offer an evening of fun as patrons sip on beverages and learn how to create each session’s themed art piece. Past events have included students swirling brush strokes into colorful peacocks, potters shaping clay bowls on a pottery wheel, and artists fusing pieces of glass together to create a glass-fused serving tray. The center also offers private and kids' parties, as well as team-building events.
Desert Moon Vineyards, named after the founders watched a full moon rise over the Grand Mesa, inspires palates with wines grown in a 10-acre vineyard and nearby Colorado plots. In the arid Grand Valley countryside, the vino experts harvest cabernet sauvignon, merlot, and syrah in small batches with sustainable farming methods, such as minimal spraying and hand picking.
