Certified trainers and coaches Chris Lewis and Mike Alexander of Summerlin CrossFit like to mix up their workout routines. They're passionately driven to help their students lead healthier lifestyles, and work toward that goal by developing a regimen of workouts that change daily. On any given day, they might push participants to lift weights, toss medicine balls back and forth, or conquer exercises inspired by gymnastics or track-and-field routines. They modify the workouts to be challenging yet achievable for exercisers of all ability levels, making CrossFit ideal for those committed to getting in shape for the first time and elite athletes alike. To help new CrossFitters acclimate to the workouts' functional movements and basic exercises, Chris and Mike coach them through an introductory series of On-Ramp classes, after which they can safely join regular sessions already knowing the top-secret handshakes.
Namaste Yoga Studio takes its name from a traditional South Asian greeting that roughly translates to "I honor the spirit in you that also resides in me." With this simple, yet profound philosophy in mind, instructors guide students of all skill levels through a range of different Yoga styles and fitness routines, including the restorative stretching of yin yoga, the soothing breathing techniques of Vinyasa flow, and the high-energy body movement of Ashtanga. Students sweat to infectious Latin rhythms during dance-inspired Zumba classes, or learn Pilates exercises, boxing techniques, and new portmanteau words during Piloxing classes.
The studio?s in-house licensed therapist, Gayla Coughlin, relieves achy muscles and helps treat an array of chronic conditions through massage therapy. For an extra dose of relaxation, visitors can also attend mind-centering events such as sound healing concerts.
In accordance with their official motto, "For Your Health And Well Being", certified personal trainers Chris and Shelly Yakimchuk opened Yaks Fitness to help clients not only adopt a healthier lifestyle, but have fun doing it. To that end, they made sure their family-run gym has plenty of studio space for Cross Training and available functional training classes that get clients moving. Outside of fitness sessions, guests can workout with Atlantis Precision Series equipment, Kettlebells, TRX Suspension Trainers, and Bumper Plates; or take things up a notch with customized personal training sessions that focus on individual goals, such as prepping for a marathon or even a physique contest. After exercising, members can refuel at the on-site smoothie bar, lend newfound biceps a golden hue in a tanning bed, or hit the small shop stocked with sports supplements and workout clothes.
City Athletic Club's 50,000-square-foot modern facility includes a medical weight loss clinic, workout studios, and state-of-the-art exercise equipment. A small machine that delivers data that helps dieters come up with effective weight-loss plans is also within this space. This device, dubbed the MetaCheck, captures exhaled oxygen during a simple 10-minute breath test and determines how efficiently a person is burning calories. With this metabolic information, one can make more sensible nutritional choices and play the resulting numbers in the lottery.
