  • Crossfit Tornado
A Chat with CrossFit Tornado What services does your business offer and what makes your business stand out from the competition? We all have different needs when we start a new strength and conditioning program. It doesn?t make sense to throw you right into classes before you have properly learned the movements. Our comprehensive Fundamentals course will prepare you for the regular CrossFit classes. Exercise is challenging. How do you keep clients motivated and engaged? The CrossFit routine becomes more enjoyable and motivational as the individual progresses. Constantly varied, high-intensity, functional movement increases work capacity across broad time and modal domains. Our trainers are positive and constantly push the client with inspirational words. What was the inspiration to start or run this business? I have opened a CrossFit gym because of my desire to make a difference. I wanted to work with others to help move them forward in profound ways in their lives. I knew that I could offer the service, support, guidance and honesty others needed to make big transitions in their lives. What do you love most about your job? I love my job because it's so relaxing and it's a very positive environment. It does keep me on my toes, but making people happy makes me happy.

  • Mudderella
Climbing walls, ice baths, pools of mud, electric shocks?a Tough Mudder isn't your average event. Each 10- to 12-mile course contains 20 adrenaline-pumping obstacles designed to test participants' strength and endurance, just like most local DMV lines. Runners clamber on top of each other to scale the slick, sloping wall of Pyramid Scheme or squeal with shock as they plunge into the Arctic Enema, a plastic-lined dumpster filled with thousands of pounds of ice. They even endure shocks from a forest of live wires known as Electroshock Therapy. But it's all worth it for the glass of beer at the end, plus the sense of camaraderie that develops among teammates. Many of those teammates go on to join the Mudder Legion, an organization for those who have participated in the event more than once. Tough Mudder also raises funds for the Wounded Warrior Project, which helps injured veterans transition to civilian life.

  • The Dirty Dash – EAST
The Dirty Dash isn't the kind of race where runners try to set a new record. There are no ribbons or trophies for the first runner across the finish line either. That's because the real fun of this race isn't in winning, it's in the actual running itself. And watching groups of costumed adults play in the mud, of course. Part light-hearted race, part military-style obstacle course, The Dirty Dash challenges runners with a course strewn with muddy obstacles with a focus on fun. In order to reach the finish, runners will have to hop over hay bales in mud pits, navigate rows and rows of tires set in wet soil, and even launch themselves down a foamy, 175-foot slip-n-slide. Besides the ultimate reward?the opportunity to spend a day in the mud?each participant also gets a t-shirt, pig tattoo, bandana, and pig decal, as well as a perfect excuse to visit their favorite dry cleaner.

  • Project Mud
Project Mud might remind adults of the fun they had as a child—running in an open field, sliding into a muddy pond, and crawling through a mud-filled tunnel. The Project Mud 5K challenges individual competitors to drudge their way through 18 mud-covered obstacles in a bid to make their way to the finish line. Those who cross the checkered line celebrate with fellow racers and spectators alike during a lively after party, where live bands and DJs inspire crowds to dance while food vendors serve fresh dishes and cold beer. Proceeds from each event help fund charities in each city, ensuring money collected goes to a good cause instead of serving as fodder for thieving tooth fairies.
