A distributor of children's playground and sports equipment, Recreations Outlet has been fortifying playtime with safely constructed fun fixtures since 1990. The outlet houses an expansive show room brandishing apparatuses that parents can purchase and install at home, such as monkey towers, and fenced-in Springfree trampolines that keep kids in and competitive kangaroos out. In addition to its regular shopping hours, Recreations Outlet invites little ones to come test out the fun factor of its wares during open-play sessions or hosted birthday parties.
As he cycled across the United States on a bike tour, Matthew Johnson made a decision: after his trip, he would open a bike shop, one that emphasized quality gear and education for beginners. In 1994, he and his friends Eric Krause and Mitch Graham did just that, and BioWheels was born. The team specializes in bikes custom-built to their client's specifications; they also customize stock bicycles with free stem swaps, which help ensure comfortable riding.
Tim Rogers couldn't shake the sense of injustice he felt when he walked into a sporting-goods store. He witnessed too many parents loading up on expensive gear for their kids under the direction of a store employee who possessed about as much sports knowledge as a blind referee. So the chiropractor, sports physician, and personal-training expert took matters into his own hands and founded Lax Haus. Along with partner and former military official Corey Flannery, Tim and his team of coaches bring their in-depth lacrosse knowledge to a storefront of lacrosse gear and clothing, as well as a 5,000-square-foot training space. That's where they teach lacrosse players of all abilities at group classes or custom-tailored private lessons.

When Jason Reser isn't pouring his energy into competitive mountain-bike racing and trail improvement, he's tending to his business—Reser Bicycle Outfitters, which was named one of America's best bike shops for 2013 by the National Bicycle Dealer Association. At two stores, one of which earned a Best Bike Shop recognition from Northern Kentucky Magazine in 2012, he leads a team of competitive cyclists, technicians, and fitting specialists certified by the Serotta International Cycling Institute. At the Over-the-Rhine location, staffers match customers to city-friendly bikes and accessories; at the Newport, Kentucky store, they instead oversee a stock specializing in sports-focused bikes. Their inventory encompasses brands such as BMC, Civia, Orbea, and Ridley. The technicians service all makes and models in onsite repair shops, treating bicycles with everything from basic tune-ups to major overhauls to unproductive psychotherapy sessions. They also measure customers and frames at more than 30 points and swap out parts to complete custom fittings.
Though bikes are the main focus at Cincinnati Bicycle Company, they aren't the only form of transportation on sale. The staff repairs and sells bikes, custom builds cycles, and keeps parts and accessories in stock, of course. But they also have a full selection of skateboards and the necessary accessories: wheels, tape, bearings, and clothing.
