The expert staff at Coaches’ Athletic enriches the batting and catching skills of beginner and advanced ballplayers alike with team, group, and private lessons. Loaded with baseballs and softballs by coaches or parents, self-feed machines launch slow and fast pitches at guests practicing their swing in the indoor hitting cages. The remainder of the turfed indoor facility accommodates drills and scrimmages, and the instant feedback of ProMirror video-analysis training lets visitors pinpoint their strengths and weaknesses after each play. Once practice is over, patrons can load up on athletic gear such as masks, mitts, and instructional videos on training zebras as referees.

Arrows whiz across 20 to 40 yards at an indoor archery range before impaling a lineup of bull?s-eyes and animal dummies. Since 1971, archers of all skill levels have calibrated their aim and perused the inventory of archery products that adorn the 5,000-square-foot space at The Bow Rack. The shop houses a TechnoHunt virtual archery system, which allows participants to hunt game in a variety of simulated environments without the hassle of traveling or notifying all those poor bull's-eyes' next of kin. The selection of gear at the range includes products from Easton Archery and Hoyt, such as the the Hoyt Buffalo, which is the bow that Katniss uses in The Hunger Games.

The sparkle of coal is a common sight in mineshafts, but no minerals have ever been found in Warpaint International's mineshaft. Instead, the splatter of fired paintballs covers the walls, just as it does in the newly renovated, 20,000-square-foot arena's other three play zones. Within the exciting facility, competitors can navigate the small homes of an indoor shantytown and crouch behind stacked barrels in an otherwise sparse mock-hotel.

JT SplatMaster Paintball offers a gentler version of paintball for younger players who have outgrown Extreme Contact Face Painting. And Warpaint International has partnered with Sniperz Den Paintball in St. Paul to host once-a-month events on more than 50 acres ripe for play, including seven bases replete with flags. Players can also stop by the full pro shop to stock up on markers, paintballs, and other related apparel.

For over 10 years, the team at Fall Line has stocked and painstakingly repaired bicycles, skateboards, and snowboards inside their shop. They also handpick all the gear that appears on their store shelves, which includes brands such as Free Agent, O?Neal, and Element. Stop in and you can find hoodies, replacement parts such as wheels and tires, and safety gear such as helmets, kneepads, and wipeout repellent.

Each member of Fall Line?s staff is a passionate skater, boarder, or cyclist; they even tapped into their expertise to build a BMX track and skate park at the Oregon State Fair.

The fishermen could carry their bounties off in coolers, but by the time the boat reaches the marina, each angler stands clutching a fat salmon for all bystanders on the dock to see. After posing for photos and recounting the battle with the day's largest catch, the anglers drop by the on-site cleaning shop to have their hauls filleted, packed, and readied to take home.

Barbara and Jerry Powell—a third-generation fisherman with more than 50 years of experience—charter ocean adventures like these year round to fishing destinations such as the inner reefs of Yaquina Bay. Aboard USCG-inspected and certified boats, the Powells' team outfits anglers with well-maintained equipment to hook deep-sea creatures such as halibut, shark, and Aquaman. Alternatively, captains take parties into tidal waters to catch bay crabs, or journey out toward open waters on whale-watching cruises.

The crew at Captain's Reel Deep Sea Fishing recommends guests check out the trip-preparation and FAQ pages before they head out. Guides can also furnish one-day licenses to those who lack the proper documents.
