Unlike the DMV, Jay Young Photography is dedicated to delivering customized portraits that capture the style, personality, and correct number of heads of their subjects. Named a Photographic Craftsman by the Professional Photographers of America for his dedication to the profession, "Mr. Jay" (as he's affectionately known) also handcrafted his custom studio. The various stone and wood façades of the Tuscan-style building serve as backdrops to perfectly tilted chins and mistimed eye-blinks alike. Opt to have your session inside the studio or in the one-acre private portrait garden, which features three different bridges, a canal, an English garden, an Alamo set, a beach, a railroad depot, and a mini Parthenon. Once you've finished casting your family as characters in the sword-and-sandals beach-party train-robbery caper of your dreams, Mr. Jay will use his retouching sorcery to transform your favorite image into diversely sized prints, as well as a handsome Facebook image that doesn't involve you hoisting a red plastic cup.
Joe Naquin, namesake of Joe's Piano Lessons, has witnessed firsthand the healing effects of music. He's taught students with ADD, physical disabilities, and even partial deafness how to tickle the ivories. And he's seen the way this form of self-expression can liberate them. Of course, his 30-minute piano lessons welcome any student willing to learn. He teaches everything from classical music to gospel and pop.

When soprano Karen Adair isn’t captivating audiences with her breathtaking vibratos and expressive high notes during oratorios and operas, she’s helping clients of all ages and abilities forge strong connections between mind, body, and spirit during Vinyasa and Hatha yoga classes. As a certified yoga instructor, she leads classes that teach awareness of mental and physical health through asanas linked with breathing, and helps her students boost flexibility and strength while giving personalized corrections and adjustments to stave off injury. Karen keeps her practice sharp by attending continuing-education workshops under Beryl Bender Birch, a world-renowned yoga teacher and author. She brings this knowledge to her studio and clients' residences for private, in-home yoga classes, during which she helps experienced athletes reach deeper stretches or teaches sedentary yoga mats how to stand up.
Fit Body Boot Camp's 60-minute classes melt away the brain's useless boredom centers while facilitating speedy fitness results. Experienced instructors lead the group in a variety of ornery body challenges such as light running, resistance training, obstacle courses, core work, and team training exercises. Classes convene in a large, open studio that features big windows and a full array of fitness-attracting equipment, including jump ropes, free weights, and glowing bicep-whistles. Campers are encouraged to come to five days a week; the classes are offered Monday through Friday at 5:30 a.m., 6:45 a.m., 9:15 a.m., 12:15 p.m. (30-minute class), 5:30 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m., and on Saturday mornings at 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. For less extreme participants, thrice-weekly attendance may also yield a sizeable crop of results. Nutritional coaching is included in the program to improve at-home habits. Since Fit Body is an ongoing program, students can join classes at any time and at any personal fitness level. Bring a water bottle and reserve a spot ahead of time, as class sizes are limited to avoid overcrowding and back-to-chest sweat terrors.
