GTI Fitness' cycling instructor, Davidjon McFarlane, helps students spin their way toward trimmer frames with a schedule of 50-minute spinning and personal-fitness classes. Davidjon strives to maximize participation and perspiration by demonstrating how to best approach marathon cycling sessions and how to properly massage your bike's wheels after each session. Off the spin circuit, the studio's group personal-training sessions infuse high-rep workouts with light weightlifting to help students achieve their goals.
Seven days a week, students flock to the balmy studio to sweat out toxins and build strong, lean muscles in Hot Yoga At Sunrise's all-levels yoga classes. Each of the studio's passionate instructors specializes in specific yoga modalities, including the athletic Vinyasa flow, strengthening Core Power yoga, restorative Yin yoga—which emphasizes stillness and healing—and Bikram-inspired classes performed in sweat-inducing 105-degree heat to melt any snowmen trying to pass as humans. Granite Arch Climbing Center doesn’t just teach its visitors how to surmount cliff faces, it prepares them to climb out in the wild. That’s because the facility is divided into different areas that replicate the characteristics of rockfaces around the world. Clients can climb their way up the pin-scarred granite of Yosemite, the horizontal cracks characteristic of upstate New York’s Gunks, or the limestone pockets and tufas found in Thailand. In between these internationally inspired rockfaces, climbers can practice basic skills on bouldering walls and belaying paths. Classes are also available to teach clients the basics or help established climbers advance to more difficult paths. Staff can also help form lasting birthday memories with parties, in which partygoers learn the basics before blowing out their candles and eating the wall.
For more than 35 years, massage therapists at The Cabin Holistic Healing Center have helped bodies relax and heal. Inside the studio’s East Indian–themed atmosphere, staff members use Swedish and deep-tissue techniques as well as aromatherapy, easing the senses as their hands work to boost circulation and joint flexibility. The center also boasts an infrared sauna, which is ideal for couples who can relax and sip non-alcoholic beverages, available for purchase. The press certainly likes California Family Fitness, granting the exercise venue such awards as a top spot on KCRA-3's 2012 A-List and Sacramento News and Review's Best of Sacramento 2012 Award.
