With bras made of candy and an entire section devoted to bachelorette-bash party favors, Kiss N Tell often takes a lighthearted approach to erotic goods. However, it doesn't sacrifice classiness to be crude. Since its inception in 1995, it has advocated for positive and healthy sexual expression, and it has an expert staff on hand to answer questions in a comfortable store setting. Plus, all of Kiss N Tell's products are on display for guests to inspect.
The offerings include We-Vibe couples' vibrators and personal massagers such as the Mini iVibe Rabbit, a smaller version of the popular Rabbit toy, as well as rose petals, Kama Sutra massage oils and candles, and other romantic accessories. Even Kiss N Tell's handcuffs selection is impressively varied—classic metal bracelets contrast with soft, feathery cuffs and the glow-in-the-dark plastic versions favored by policemen who patrol past midnight.
Under the supervision of Dr. Jon Dresser, a staff of nurse practitioners and registered nurses bolsters client confidence and boosts well-being with noninvasive aesthetic services. Qualified medical staff employ the Palomar StarLux 500 laser—which is outfitted with broadband light energy, a vacuum, and a cooling system—to optimize laser hair-removal treatments and acne or anti-aging facials. Qualified medical staff administer all laser therapies and inject dermal fillers such as Botox, reassuring patients with expert medical advice about their results, aftercare, and probability of attaining immortality. The space's capacious waiting room is painted an energizing shade of lime green, and scattered sofas and oriental rugs exude a welcoming, homey feel.
The staff members at Mr. Mattress don’t just want customers to peruse their stock; they want them to lie down on it. They know that their customers may end up spending half of their lives on whichever mattress they choose, so they let them take as much time as they need testing beds to find the right blend of support and comfort.
Judging from the store’s vast collection of spring, memory-foam, and eco-friendly latex mattresses, selecting just one might take more time than anticipated. When they aren’t comparing popular brands such as Spring Air and Knickerbocker, customers can use the expansive showroom to chart out elaborate battle strategies for future pillow fights.
Master butcher Manny Sol began working at only 14 years old, sweeping up at a local market after school. Within two weeks, he began learning to prepare specialties at the deli counter, a skill that would carry him through later positions as an executive chef and eventually the owner of his own butcher shop in Orangevale. Today, coolers and freezer cases line the aisles in his shop, showcasing specialties such as farm-raised meats, free-range poultry, wild Atlantic salmon, and even specialty pet foods. "We carry everything," Manny says. "Lamb, alligator, you name it." When asked about his personal favorites, Manny mentions the steaks and the sausages. He carries more than 35 varieties of sausage, including hot sweet hawaiian sausage, lamb-curry sausage, and orange-chipotle-chicken sausage that comes from chicken plucked ripe from chili trees.
Potter’s wheels whirr inside Lost Arts Ceramics' studio, where artists sit hunched over mounds of damp clay and mold the sticky earth into urns or bowls. The studio, gallery, and school is dedicated to the proliferation of the tactile art—during hands-on pottery classes, couples can create a permanent representation of their all-too-fleeting love, and groups can stop in and craft sculptures or functional art pieces. In the future, Lost Arts plans to expand into a nonprofit art organization, working with children and adults with special needs.
