Sprawled across Ed Martinek's 63-acre family farm, Adventure Acres cultivates a wholesome harvest of activities for pintsize and full-size visitors alike. Five corn mazes snake across a combined 11-plus miles of land, challenging navigators with twists and turns as onlookers and overly concerned scarecrows shout directions from an elevated watchtower. Scenic 30-minute hayrides explore the winding creeks and wildlife that meander peacefully across the grounds, and air-powered corn cannons equip trigger fingers with the power to launch ears up to 500 feet. After scouting the farm's outlying features, guests wrap back around to the petting zoo, where they can play with or try to elicit stock advice from tightlipped goats, horses, and cows.

Peek across the counter at the shop's resident chocolatiers, who massage creamy loafs of chocolate on sturdy marble slabs daily. For additional culinary theatrics, feel free to cheer on the expert orchard orderlies as they kettle-dip Granny Smiths into caramel-coated creations. Caramel apples range from the classically simple (starting at $5.25) to Pecan Bear Caramel Apple, which is rolled in roasted pecans, layered lovingly in milk or dark chocolate, and drizzled in rich white confection with liberal discretion ($9.25). For additional brain pampering, snag a pound of kissable chocolate-covered snacks ($19.95), or strip away the core and go straight for the score with freshly fangled fudges ($13.25 per pound).

Inside HoneyBaked Ham, chefs uphold the same traditions that Harry J. Hoenselaar created more than 40 years ago. Back then, he chose individual hams, cured them in his secret marinade, and smoked them over hardwood chips before offsetting the earthy flavor with a crisp, sweet glaze. To this day, the staff makes the signature bone-in hams one at a time and glazes them in the shop.

To go with the meats, the kitchen whips up classic side dishes and desserts, such as the sweet-potato souffl?. For less formal feasting, party trays and packed lunch boxes fuel business meetings, backyard grad parties, and lengthy end-zone celebrations.

And if you just can't muster up any enthusiasm about wings, even ones coated in bourbon or spicy pineapple sauce, The Café Olé has you covered. Its menu tempts taste buds with a variety of American classics, from sandwiches and burgers to steaks and seafood.
